Re: If you could only have one...

Some other favorites coming in over the price limit makes this easier, so my pick would be the Minimoog reissue. Inspiring to play and always sounds good. I've been recording whole tracks with mine recently then going back to revoice the parts (or not). Stuff just spills out when playing it and blen...

Re: interesting modern digital synths?

Immediately thought of Waldorf Quantum until I saw your price limit. Nails this, though:
has modern, interesting dsp cababilites, synthesis engines and algorithms.

Re: Behringer System 55

Until I hear something that sounds better, I’d suggest buying a set of basic Dotcom modules over these. Most of their basics are also about $50-100, except for the vco ($200) and filters ($130-180), the system sounds better, and you gain the true advantage of the Moog format, a spacious, playable in...

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

I'm seeing a fair bit of hating ( I don't mean it literally, just a convenient term ! :hihi: ) on the flightcase with the KARP 2600 FS : I think it's great & well worth the inclusion for the £££.... Completely. Without it, it would be difficult for this synth to ever leave the house. I dinged up my...

I'm really hoping I don't get a similar email. I got in on the first morning of release and it was a couple of days later that it changed to "Sold Out" on the site. I'm losing sleep again.
Don't fret. I'm so confident they will make more that I will sell you mine. For $8,500.

All of what you said leaves it that ARP is legitimate again and already being pillaged.
I don’t think that is a very nuanced read of what he said at all.

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

It wouldn’t stun me for 10 or more people on the Sweetwater waitlist to get a spot. They don’t charge your card until it ships, so there are a couple of months for real life to happen to a few people, for a few people to opt for the cheaper Behringer, or for a few people’s spouses to hear about what...

Re: Behringer 2600

It is easily explained how Guitar Center got those pics and also why they don't necessarily represent any upcoming product. This of course does not mean Korg can't change their mind. But as of now, they have no plans for a mini. Would you care to share the easy explanation? It seems quite plausible...

Not all of us want to cosplay 70s prog rock.
As someone with a Synthi reissue, a Minimoog reissue, a big 5U system, and a Korg 2600 on order, I found that really funny.

I’m not actually much of a prog fan, but I do still wish I had a cape like Rick Wakeman. If the shoe sorta fits . . .

Re: Behringer 2600

The form factor kind of sucks. You can really rack mount it because of all the jacks on the top back, so it's one of these open frames that hog lots of desk space. Some one will come up with custom stands I bet. The only jacks on the back are midi, power, and two footswitches. Seem like common thin...

Re: Behringer System 55

Some of these modules, 992, 921A, 961 are for external controllers right? Tried to find a site that had an explaination of how these modules work but couldn't find one. 921A is the oscillator driver. It supplies the pitch cv and pulse width for one or more 921B oscillators. What originally was a be...

Re: Behringer 2600

This is one of their best panels, I think. Excepting the kludgy 1/4" jacks, but its a prototpye. I've never understand anyone's love of lighted sliders--they seem quite cheap to the touch to me--but every pot on every one of the Behringer synths has been a disappointment to me, so this will be no be...

Re: NAMM 2020 megathread

Damn, I was leaning toward the new Motu M4 but SSL is supposed to be great stuff, and I like the desktop orientation (knobs on top of panel rather than front) of this box. I wonder how the driver latency/stability will compare... is this SSL's first entry into the USB interface market? I have an x-...

The NAMM release I had missed until now but which was an instant preorder for me was the SSL2+. Two channel portable interface with nice preamps, 2 headphone amps, and midi. Seems like a perfect little friend for my travel bag, for $299.

I would dive further into the ethics but then Korg does 1:1 clones of Arp (at least they did it first). I just don't know why Behringer can't stay on their side of fence.
Are you aware that Korg purchased the rights to use the ARP brand?

Re: Behringer System 55

Yes, using s-trig seems absurd. I’d love to have been a fly on the wall for the meeting where they made that decision. Do they think people are going to buy these to expand their vintage Moog’s or something? Or they were just too lazy to bother making them compatible with other modules?

Never! Behringer will heroically shell out those 78 cents/hour wages to fund as many 20 hour workdays as it takes to build your new modular.

Two iterations of the System 100m in Euro now, and neither looks any fun to use to me. All those short sliders and mini pots to match the panel layouts just don't look inviting to play. Can you show me the first iteration of the 100m? Roland System 500 I have a System 500. That is now considered a ...

No, you’d need the poly for that.

Re: What is the CV voltage of an Oberheim Xpander?

I'm not sure what you mean. Since the Xpander doesn't have CV outs, I assume you are trying to control the Xpander with the Shared System? You won't hurt anything, but the one time I tested my Xpander with both cv and midi from the same sequencer (a 1010 Bitbox channel), the cv ins didn't track the ...

The last couple times I've done this, it was DHL delivered my UPS. DHL contacted me in advance via email to collect the duty.
