Re: SCSI, PCMCIA, and Emu Ultra 6400
I'd be almost certain that CF cards in an adapter would work, I have a similar setup on a Yamaha A4000, although I have it running on the IDE bus. SD cards maybe not. They lack an interface layer that's built into CF, so you're depending on the slot adapter to do the translating. Worth a punt though...

Re: Assistance with powering Swissonic Sub10 Studio Subwoofer in USA
I'd forgotten the matter of the frequency.... it's much more of an issue with items using motors, like turntables and clocks, as they run at the wrong speed if fed a frequency they're not designed for. I looked into it a few years ago for a friend who'd backed a groovy turntable on Kickstarter, only...

Re: Assistance with powering Swissonic Sub10 Studio Subwoofer in USA
You'll need a step up transformer to power that, not just a simple cable swap, and a fairly beefy one at that, given the power rating. That would be more hassle then it's worth for me, it's not like it's a particularly special piece of gear? Edited to add...it looks like you have a new item there, s...

Re: novation sl49 mkii - local control off/on option?
What are you trying to control, and how have you everything hooked up?
Have a look at the global menu on the Remote, you can choose which MIDI out is fed from the MIDI in.
Nice score on the Kurzweil btw, a nice addition to any setup. I've the Doepfer eurorack ribbon, very expressive with practice.

Re: novation sl49 mkii - local control off/on option?
Local control is only relevant for the synth your controlling, with both the Novation and the Kurzweil. Just use the ports on the Remote to pass through the ribbon, and configure your synth to match.

Re: Knobby/Slidey MIDI Controller with NRPN Functionality
Here are the templates. As I've said, these were created for the Zero SL mk1. I know the various PC editors for other Remotes will load these, but the layout will probably be scrambled, but it's easy enough to rearrange things to your liking, using the right click menu, I think it's under "imported ...

Re: Knobby/Slidey MIDI Controller with NRPN Functionality
Thanks! Regarding the Zero, it has no keyboard, but is there a way to set it up so that I can play notes from another keyboard (e.g., a System-8 or D50) and edit from the Zero SL at the same time? Yes, you can use the MIDI in, and choose which of the MIDI outs this gets sent to. It goes without say...

Re: Knobby/Slidey MIDI Controller with NRPN Functionality
A noble endeavour...which I undertook myself recently. I used a Remote Zero SL. It took 22 templates in total, which is every parameter listed. 8 of these are for assigning the macros, and 4 for the mod matrices. You can set up a bank type system on the Remotes, whereby you can page between banks of...

Re: Affordable and Reliable MIDI Thru and Splitter?
That's been in the works for quite a while, I believe. I have a mio4, it's excellent. All my more modern gear sits on a 7 port USB hub, older stuff on DIN, and PC connection via ethernet. Takes a bit of setting up though, there's a lot of routing and filtering options. Another option worth consideri...

Re: MIDI and Clocks in a small case
Have you had a look at CV.OCD, or it's eurorack equivalent, Mutant Brain? Very capable in the Midi to CV department. In my case, I use the 4 CVS for Pitch, velocity plus 2 ccs. And then there are the 8 gate outs, which seems excessive, but aside from the obvious gate or trigger tied to your note, th...

Looks great, I'm very interested.
I see that there's a Division button, and mention of 1/32th to 1bar resolution per step. Is it possible to have different clock divisions per track?
And the price of less than €600 - does this include IVA/VAT?

I think that stands for End of Message...it is based on an ansaphone chip after all. So every time the sample reaches the end, a trigger is fired from this jack.

Keep an eye on eBay for a C-Mexx MIR, providing you have a Windows machine to run the configuration software on. Very compact, and insanely programmable.

Re: Searching for a general-purpose microphone with easy 3.5mm interfacing
Another thought: I'd be inclined to try something like the Sony ecm-ms907 with your current setup. They're discontinued, but loads around second hand. I think a "consumer" device like this is more likely to work with a line level input, then the more "pro" Rode mics. And if it doesn't work out, at l...

Re: Searching for a general-purpose microphone with easy 3.5mm interfacing
I don't think your input module will work too well with a mic. It's not just about gain, there's impedance to consider as well. Plugging a mic into a line level input is far from ideal! Maybe something like MI Ears or Ladik A-510 would be worth investing in. The Rode mic would certainly work, there'...

Re: Searching for a general-purpose microphone with easy 3.5mm interfacing
Does your input module have a dedicated mic input, or does it just provide amplification? If it's intended for boosting consumer audio gear from line to eurorack level, no combination of mic and cable will sound as good as it should. But it may be acceptable for what you want. I'd look at battery po...

That sounds very frustrating and disappointing. Must be something seriously up with their setup. I've ordered from them a couple of times, only good experiences. But they shouldn't be taking orders if they can't fulfill them.

Only discovered them a few months ago, can't get most of the tunes out of my head, or the videos. Looks like you're right about the Obie, there's only a couple of glimpses of it on the video, obviously the form factor gives it away, but the typical white panel isn't clearly visible. Was there ever a...

I'd be interested to know what this synth might be?
Something French and obscure, no doubt....

That's a screen grab from Les Rita Mitsoukos oddly wonderful "Le Petit Train", released 1988.

Re: AA battery powered 4ms pod idea
Another option, which I went for, is a MyVolts ripcord. There is an 18v version, although it's centre negative, so add a polarity changer. It's rated to 500ma, so double check your Pods draw.

Re: MIDI - USB interface cable w/3.5mm I/O?
The Retrokits RK006 looks the business, although maybe overkill if you have only one or two devices. I'm tempted by it for live use at least, although I have a Midi4+ at home.
As for your other question, what about something like a Midisport and a short USB cable?
