Re: ISLA Instruments SP-2400

Ive been asking myself if the 2400 is for me, as I already have an sp1200 in great shape, that I got for a good deal. Of course the sample time limitation & polyphony & other limitations are frustrating at times, but the more I look at & listen to The 2400 Im seeing that its essentially a different ...

Re: warmest sounding complex oscillator?

Had only 1 Complex Osc & that was the Verbos, Version 2. It was fantastic....sometimes... It always had this particular character in the low freqs that wasnt always desirable... hard to describe it, not muddy but always woody & bristly, & extra farty too... In the end sold it, but havent decided on ...

Re: Phaedra synthesis

The Mel9 pedal by Electro-Harmonix is a pretty awesome poor-man’s Mellotron. Around $200 new. So far Ive run my Rhodes piano thru it & some e. guitar & I must say its pretty sick... i think theres 9 ‘classic’ Mellotron sounds you get, & they all sounds pretty darn on-point... for $200 you cant go wr...

Re: Patch bay questions

I Can vouch for the Samson. The switches are just awesome & no gripes about build quality/signal quality. Used ones can be found pretty cheap, I got one for $50... depending on your gear.... I mean the outlay for cabling isnt that bad unless you got a serious studio with mad rack gear & a 32 track c...

Re: ER101 or Varigate 8+ /Voltage Block

Although it is more ‘free form’ of a sequencer Id highly recommend the Verbos Multistage. Only 8 stages but with lots of variability possible; variable stage length, cv addressable stages, and more... its super fun & simple to use, lends itself to lots of happy accidents & has tons of outputs for in...

Re: What am I looking for in a tape cassette recorder?

Ive got a Tascam 112 mk2 that is fantastic. People always say “wait thats playing off of a tape?!” Thats how good it sounds. Has Dolby, but its never needed. Has VU meters too, which rock. But its a barebones machine; no auto-reverse. Tapes are great, glad they never disappeared! I still buy em

Thanks for the recs everyone.. That Demedash pedal sounds amazing...not really like a VHS tape ha, but still sounds killer... & that chorus pedal has got me thinking of selling off my Diamond chorus for it.

Favorite PT2399 based Delay Pedals

I have a Bugbrand PTDelay (‘18) that I love everything about except for the hum it introduces into my pedal rig. I bought it when I had a Bugbrand system & it was super, but in my guitar/rhodes rig its just too noisy. So Im looking for a replacement. So far the ones that have caught my ear are *Deat...

How about a Filterbank? Like the Verbos Bark or Frap Fumana. The Verbos ATC is a pretty mean filter too they are all out of my budget...I´m looking something in the order of 300-400 max I hear you. Id suggest the Verbos ATC (amplitude & tone control) then. Its kind of a lo pass gate/lo pass filter ...

Wondering if Mark changed something in the Drive/Saturation circuit, because the new ATC definitely sounds very different than the original, & not really to my liking.....sort of like a silicon fuzz, more biting & sizzle on top, a bit dare I say ‘brittle’. I do agree though that the original ATC is...

What about some Randomness? Check out Marbles as its a bit of a sequencer as well as random sampler. Randomness can add some Life to otherwise repetitiveness ad nausea.

I would also add that, similar to VCAs, you cant really have too many sequencers, as Im discovering.

I sampled a trig signal into my 2000xl, assigned it to the 8 outs & it worked. I did have to trim the trig’s start point/rising edge a bit though, but no biggie. Still it hiccups a bit.... eyeballin a Mutant Brain at this point

(presumably in a more ergonomic Eurorack-friendly format) In my book, eurorack is pretty much the opposite of ergonomic. :hihi: I was referring to Moogerfooger's arrangement of the CV jacks on the rear of the pedal, as opposed to the faceplate where they would be easily accessible. It makes sense f...
