Re: In Memoriam || Jan Boerman 1923-2020

Thanks for sharing this news, Roland - he was a brilliant composer, whose exploration of nested formal structures and timbre was truly innovative.

I'm glad he was on the planet so long, and that we have such a wonderful body of work to learn from into the future.

Re: KYMA - SONIC CULTURES LAB

https://soundcloud.com/bphenix/fm-modal-spectra The standard Kyma modal filter cannot by FM'ed without blowing up. But FM is so fun for creating timbres so I created a modal filter version based on state variable filter that was created by the Kata community that can be modulated at audio rate. Mod...

Hi All,

Video of a Kyma + soprano saxophone concert I gave in Los Angeles in early 2019 has just been posted, and has an excellent mix with direct sound:

stereo modal filters fed by stereo shaped noise. modal filter's bands are defined by extracting the modes via spectral analysis of a bassoon sample.

Re: Pitch to CV in 2020

What Jumbuktu said, but yes, for hardware options, the RS-35 is very good, but you do need to really dial it in for it to work at its best, as is the pitch/env following module on the Expert Sleepers Disting - but you’ll have to experiment with your voice and mic’ing to see what works best. There is...

Belatedly joining the Kyma exciter/resonator party!

Here are some alien sounding vocal cavity sounds from sending analog pink noise filtered by a Serge Modular VCFS (variable slope filter) through an REResonator in Kyma:

Serge Modular on Instagram

Hi All, I wanted to start a "master list" of Serge centered folks on Instagram, so we might connect and learn from one another's work. While I suspect we may have all found each other over there already :hihi: , I figured it can't hurt to collect these all in one place. Here's mine: https://www.inst...

Thanks!
From ground up, or ledge up?

Re: Random Source's TKB

thanks! yeah for some reason I initially confounded the semitonal-quantization of the KEY output with the unquantized voltage A-D out. I noticed your IG clip when posted and it helpfully served to corroborate what others clarified here for me. TKB is a very high acquisition priority for me—still ne...

Re: Random Source's TKB

To clarify, it’s only quantized via the keypad output jack, but you can tune it and play with the keypads however you want using the A-D CV outs - you could even play up to 5-note chords with the keypads and all the outs if you wanted to get really nuts - here’s a TKB (THC, not R*S) sample I made (n...
