Re: Random question for you guys who live where termites go

As long as the common termite fumigant sulfuryl fluoride is used, there is no risk to electronic equipment. Phosphine gas should be avoided, because it can corrode metals like copper and damage electronics. Thelefthandpath , sulfuryl flouride is also used for bed bugs, so if it was used in your case...

Re: Hi-fi Gurus: Stylus/Cartridge upgrade for an old Rega in 2020

I'm just speculating but: 1: My old NAD wasn't holding me back as much as I thought Based on my personal experience I would be really surprised that was the case. 2: I cheaped out too much on an amp and didn't really upgrade I don't think you can tell just by the headphone amp, but yes you are still...

Re: NI Maschine+ standalone groovebox

So, the included 'instruments' are stunted (e.g. NOT full) versions. To me that rules our the Maschine+ as a viable choice. But then again, who knows what will happen with firmware upsdates (...or hacks). The Maschine+ can also act like a Maschine controller, so you can use it that way and access e...

Re: Favorite module that no one knows?

I hope these are obscure enough for you: — The Kilpatrick K2579 is basically the sequencer of my dreams, and I don’t understand why it never really caught on and then fizzled out as a product. It’s so powerful for its size. I regret not buying several Kilpatrick modules, that being one of them.

Re: Filters you like with chords

Intellijel filters (Dixon designs) are lovely with chords, you can really tame the input for a nice clean sound if desired and flatter curves like 6 dB per octave works nicely for spread out voicings. Another interesting one is Doepfer A-107. Lots of different filter types, just need to tame the in...

"running man" was a fictional, scripted movie. you should not compare it to reality unfortunately, modern culture seems based on fictional, scripted movies & TV shows Actually for most people modern culture is waking up, farting, weeing if you managed to make it through the night without getting up...

Re: What new booty did you buy?

$900, dayum. I'll opt for the $20 reissue and $880. Pretty cool that you have a 1/100 pressing boc record though, can't say I wouldn't be a little bit giddy to check it out. I have a few rarities that came from being in the right place at the right time like Zoviet France, Sabres of Paradise, Late ...

Re: What new booty did you buy?

Discogs has my collection at $35k, but it would such a hassle to sell it. Yeah I guess not worth it for the price you would get from a dealer either. I was never a collector, I have too many rabbit holes in my life. I'm not really a collector, mostly it was just for DJing, apart from stuff from 70s...

Interesting that you mention brain surgeons. I've known a few because my ex-wife used to work in a neurosurgery theatre. They are the pinnacle of single-minded precision, exactitude and discipline in my opinion, and their anaesthetists don't fall that far behind either, because they manage a delica...

Re: The dwindling world of specialists

I really wish I could be an expert at just one thing but it is not in my make up. I get bored. I am seriously in the jack of all trades master of none category, and I've just learnt to accept it. At least this lockdown - which is the longest lockdown in the world where I live - has given me the head...

Re: A bit of a rant. State of tech in 2020.

Squarp Pyramid is great but Cirklon reigns supreme, especially if you have a hardware studio and modular. i've used most of the high end sequencers, and I just don't think that you can claim that one is the best. I personally like the schrittmacher for pure step sequencing, and while the work flow ...

Squarp Pyramid is great but Cirklon reigns supreme, especially if you have a hardware studio and modular. Especially if one is ready to spend over twice as much as a Pyramid, and wait 2-3 years to hopefully receive the fabled Cirklon. How much music could have been be created, how much sequencing k...

about the state of tech 2020: SAMPLERS features are ridiculous in most cases...RAM, read direct from card/HD, stereo sampling, polyphony/chromatic play, layering, transfer/backup to computer...all this stuff was covered by most late 90s samplers but now it seems to be a luxury set of features that ...
