Re: Peter Gabriel...

I just now saw this thread because it popped into the recent threads. Funny, because I've been listening to Intruder a lot lately, (and on a side note "Tonight Tonight Tonight". (yes, not Gabriel, but close enough  ) I can't decide what it is, but since I recently bought a red sports car, and a...

Re: [Build Thread] UltraFlop-08 Sequencer

I do still have one question on this wonderful Sequencer. When the Clock Source switch is set to External the Internal clock continues to advance the sequencer if nothing is in the External jack or if the Clock in the External is pulsed slower than the Internal clock. Shouldn't the unit stop advanc...

Re: are there any good CD40106 schmitt trigger drum circuits?

I don't know about the 40106 specifically, but you might check out some of Phobos' work over at Electro-Music. He's done a lot of simple-but-nice circuits, including a lot of CMOS/Lunetta type stuff as well. You might also check out the Lunetta sub-forum over there too. One of the first posts that j...

Re: R.I.P. LM3046: byebye affordable temp stabilized VCO's

While the original SSM2030 was not temperature compensated (the tempco resistor was external), it's worth pointing out that the architecture of the 2x30 VCO is identical to the Rossum-designed VCOs in the Emu modulars, and in the Oberheim SEM and OBX. They are very stable in my FVS and OBX. Interes...

Re: Question about substituting components

I'm a little late for this response, but related the resistor debate on the last page: There are a few brands that make 1/4W resistors in the smaller size. Panasonic is one of them. Digikey sells them. There are more too, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. Just thought I'd mention tha...

Re: Connect simple switches to eurorack synth

why haap over sanway or seimitsu? personal preference? I've always liked Happ/Suzo parts myself, but they're the ones I have the most experience with. They also make the smaller convex buttons that feel very nice. I've been using them for decades though for game devices, so it's really a matter of ...

SSI2130 (coming soon)

All temperature-compensated VCOs and all active parts.

Not to mention using the SSI2164 with a more traditional core.

I'm really excited for the 2130 though.

Re: How can I double a schematic when making my own module?

As mentioned above, if you're using a software package that handles the netlist between the schematic portion and the PCB layout portion, (I use Proteus for example) you'll definitely want to duplicate it in the schematic portion first. This way it will automatically handle all of the common nets, a...

Hey! I spent about 12 build hours on this Sequencer, and amazingly it fired up first time with only one issue. The direction switch goes forward up and backward middle and down just like some of the previous posters. This is a Synthcube kit, so I'm assuming they just sent the wrong switch. Testing ...

Re: [Build Thread] UltraFlop-08 Sequencer

Yes, it's pretty simple actually. There is a voltage divider buffered by an op amp that supplies the CV pots. I don't have the schematic in front of me, but you could easily bring that down to any voltage you like by changing that divider. If I remember correctly the divider is two 100K resistors in...

Re: The 2020 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!

I had this cherry/purple heart wood case that my dad made me sitting around for the past couple of years. It was always too big to ship, so anything I built always went out in either boats or smaller cases. I decided to put some vector rails in one row for LW format modules, and start filling it up ...

Re: TR-606 - is there any clone in DIY format?

That looks great. I'm also mounting a set in a 4U boat, though mine will be a 17x7x3 full panel with some other percussion circuits. Like you said, board mounting will be a small challenge, but it looks like there's plenty of dead space to drill through on the boards to make mounting holes. Might h...

There was a flaw on the panel that I originally posted. The hihat jacks were incorrect. Here is a fixed version.

Re: TR-606 - is there any clone in DIY format?

Well, this will obviously require hand-wiring, but it will fit in a 12x7x3 Hammond boat. Board mounting will need to be a bit creative as well, but shouldn't be too bad. To keep the spacing, I tossed in a spare VCA, and a dual, manual gate section. Anyone wanting a 4U banana 606 feel free to use/mod...

Re: The 2020 Show Us Your DIY Builds Thread!

I built a Quad Function Generator based on the Intellijel Quadra + Expander (which was based on the Buchla 281) into a 5U module. I used a Panel Board to eliminate panel wiring and a Translator Board to connect the Panel Board to the Circuit Board without having to compromise the layout of either o...

Re: Simple white noise circuit with 5V? SN76489 ?

This MIGHT work at 5V. It will need some resistor tweaks to get the signal high enough though for sure. I use this as a sample-source for my shift register based designs. Changing the 1.5M and 4.99K resistor can boost the noise a bit. I tweak the resistors until I get around 2V P2P which is sufficie...

Re: Banana system pictures

I finally have a modular again after a long time of not being able to build. I actually posted a pic of the panel itself a while back, but now it's fully built, calibrated, and usable. It's also a test-bed for a new set of PCBs. Half of a new lineup. (the other half will be in another panel)...
