Re: OTO BIM vs Tape delay
I think a lot of the fun with tape delays is the live noodling and knob turning. Aside from the obvious sound differences I look at BIM as more of a set and forget type delay. If I get another tape style delay it will probably be a Volante or something similar. I’ve had the RE-201, 301, Fulltone SS ...

Re: OTO BIM vs Tape delay
I do like the sound of the T-Rex delay, it seems to capture the heart of a good tape delay. Id buy one. The Fulltone Tube Tape delay sounds incredible too I decided to grab a T-Rex--pretty good price from JRR shop. Even though most demos i found were guitar-based (blah) I could definitely hear "tha...

Re: Polyend Tracker
To all you Polyend Tracker users out there: do you think this is a sound investment to make, bugs and all? I would mostly be using it with my eurorack system, but would also enjoy loading a bunch of samples on it, grabbing a USB power brick (hopefully that would work OK with this?) and sitting down...

I’d like to take a break from this circular conversation to ask if anyone has experience using something like a 16n fader bank to control Tracker stuff. Thinking about ordering one of the new Michigan Synth Works fader banks. I swear I saw a video of someone doing this the other day but I can't see...

Re: Polyend Tracker
My easily distracted mind found the simple online manual on the Polyend site with the short video tutorials the most helpful. Some of the YouTube videos are a bit long winded/too much info in one place for me.

Re: Buying and selling on reverb - weird flipping?
If it’s buyers’ remorse, consider yourself lucky they’re flipping it at a loss. I’ve gotten buyers who play something for a couple of days, claim it’s broken and then make me pay for return shipping (after I’ve already spent on outbound shipping) and then the module / pedal arrives back home not-br...

Re: Synth Tech e520 Hyperion Stereo Audio Processor
Mine arrived yesterday as well! Spent some time playing my Erebus through the chowder, prime and multi tap algorithms. They sound great and I’m excited to learn how everything works. I’m also impressed with how useful and tasteful the presets are..great starting points!

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
Yeah the patch bay is handy and a nice alternative to a mod matrix/menu. I’ve used it a fair amount on its own and plan to incorporate some outside modulation as well. Nyx seems more suited to complex experimental sounds and Erebus seems a little more straight forward. I can let you know more after ...

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
I'm liking the typhon enough I'm thinking about trying out one of these other 2. I'm thinking that probably the nyx has more available modulation because the manual is several pages longer (joke). I’m 1 step ahead of you:) I recently got a Nyx 2 and can’t stop playing with it. Still wrapping my hea...

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
yeah. now i'm trying to figure out, since this is sounding so insane - does the step sequencer actually play if the note sequencer is not? manual seems to say it does, but i'm not entirely sure. but the sounds i'm getting are really crazy. It’s always running in the background..I think the division...

That confused me a bit at first too. I believe there can be 7 destinations per modulator.Nelson Baboon wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 9:43 pmedit: ah - i see. you just switch to another destination and set an amount and it should remember all of them. will try.

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
Off to get a new cable - looks relatively standard, though I don't remember what the one end is called that is more squarish... It’s A to B. I highly recommend the Chroma Cables. They’re specifically designed to filter noise. They’re expensive as far as usb cables go, but I think they’re worth it. ...

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon
Mine finally arrived... So I seem to get considerable distortion/noise. Some patches zero, some I have considerable constant background noise (and it is passing through the effects), some I only seem to have some extraneous distortion/noise when played (seemingly when the envelope is anything but 0...

i was referring to the ability to set tracks to different meters like track one 16 steps, track two 7 steps and have them phase in and out of the starting relationship. This is easily done between tracks 1-4 and even a polymetric mode for drum tracks on track 1. You should check out the Loopop tuto...

Re: What's Your pick for a standalone, sub $300.00 usd, used or new, synth
I got a barely used Dreadbox Typhon for less than $300. I think it’s a great little standalone box. I love the sound of the oscillators, filter and FX. Knobs where they’re needed and a very easy to navigate menu for the rest. The sequencer is pretty easy and fun to use and can be powered from a powe...

Been having so much fun playing this synth that I’ve decided to grab a 2nd one!
Only bummer so far is when I decided to update from 1.0 and realized that I can’t with my old Mac running 10.13. Will have to wait until my son is done with school for the day so I can borrow his Windows computer.

Getting ready to purchase a Zvex Lo-Fi junky but I see that this unit has modeled it. How close is it? Edit: oops my bad. I just realized that this was very recently implemented. It doesn't have the different waveshapes, but having had the real thing I think it otherwise pretty much nails it. I wou...
