Re: Waldorf Iridium

The Modwave will only cover the wavetable functionality of Iridium. Keep in mind that's only one of 5 oscillator modes in Iridium. For me, the kernel mode is the most impressive mode, and I don't know of any other hardware synth (outside of modular) that does what it does (audio rate wavetable morp...

Interesting to see so many votes for the MPC One here. I bought one when it came out, found it extremely clunky
There’s been several major releases of the software since. Maybe people are referring to that?

But no I don’t quite see the point of an almost DAW on an almost MPC

Korg delta. This thing IS dub techno. How has this evaded my radar for so long? So so in love.
They're all a bit under the radar that lot. There's the Sigma and Lambda too, and of course the Trident which does get some love.

Re: Your Favorite Acquisitions in 2020

Disliked Sequential Pro 3. It's a great synth but really didn't suit my music I sometimes wonder if you can have too much monosynth in one monosynth! I didn't gel with the Moog Sub 37 - staggeringly beautiful though it was -it was just way more monosynth than I needed! If that makes sense. (parapho...

Excellent crack at Joy Division's Disorder (not me)

Not connected to this young'un in any way but a most excellent effort I'd say!

It popped up on MatrixSynth.

On a more serious note: as a software engineer by trade, I consider the achievements of FOSS a miracle, flawed as some projects may be. After work, the last thing I personally want to do is more software development.
+1

I don't want to do AT work much these days let alone AFTER :hihi:

Yup, I pulled the trigger on a Quantum too and I finally upgraded my OB6 desktop to an OB6 keyboard.

A killer combo that gives me much joy.

Akai MPC 2000. Always wanted one.
Great machine. Almost prefer it to the XL (can never make my mind up) and what with 3000/60 prices being stupid these days, it's the best vintage MPC buy

Re: KORG miniKORG 700FS

haha What a weird choice-- I've always felt this was a cool synth 'cause the Cure used it (if I am not mistaken...) but years ago I passed on a chance to buy one on Craig's List for ~ $400. Would be a pretty cool synth for a beginner if not for the price tag. Yeah I think it's an odd choice. It's w...

So how does one get login credentials for the sequential site (in order to download this update)? I have a used OB-6, never brothered to register it, but I did yesterday morning. Do I just need to be patient and wait for them to get back to me? Should I send a separate message asking for access? An...

The time, expertise and complication IS the music otherwise it’s just music by numbers. Colouring in! By that logic you might say early house and the spin off uk breakbeat rave era was just ‘colouring in’ ... Well I guess I'd argue the difference there is, they did it first! Sure it's simplistic bu...

Not to totally bash Roland, they made a great machine with the Tr8s, which I love. I just hate the UI of their machines so I usually tune up sounds in the Tr8S and then sample into an elektron box for sequencing and arranging. if you already tuned up your drum sounds in the tr8s why wouldnt you jus...

They never did follow up the MV8000/MV8800. God I GAS’d for those back in the day.

Looks interesting, and I know it’s supposed to pair with a laptop or tablet, but they could have been a bit more generous with the screen!

Re: Thomann prices to the UK no longer include VAT

No, Thomann didn't charge VAT, just UPS. My order was over the £135 threshold mentioned earlier. The UPS guy didn't leave me ANY paperwork on the payment I made to him so I don't know what the breakdown was. The funny thing was he had to ring my card through, standing there on the doorstep. I do ho...

If people like the MC4 they should check out the Orthogonal Devices ER-101. It's the most MC4-like sequencer I have used so far.
And like the MC4 the ER101 also has brilliant aesthetics!
