Re: 250e / 251e / 252e sequencers sending CV !!

Doug! That was a masterpiece of clarity. If only you had written the 200e manual! On another note, I am looking to get a sequencer that will advance a single note on a pulse, and no further. I want to branch into electro acoustic and use an envelope follower to trigger a new event with each loud st...

Re: 250e / 251e / 252e sequencers sending CV !!

My question is .... if I use either 250e / 251e / 252e sequencers sending CV to control the pitch of the 259e / 261e ...... How do the oscillators respond to the pitch / CV ? Will they work as we're not sending Pitch info via Midi ? Am I able to program a musical piece that is in scale / notes ? Th...

251e plus slew. Set up four two stage sequences at different step durations. Or use four step sequences to slow even further, and so on. I use the 251e for this kind of timing all the time, almost exclusively.

Re: 251e gremlins (again)

Not sure this is related, and it's not clear in your post if you are doing this, but whenever I run 281e pulses to the 251e the 251e freaks out. The problem as I understand it is that the 281e pulses, which are 15V in magnitude, are too much for the 251e. Note all other pulses in the system are 10V ...

It's probably on the old v2 firmware. Update to latest firmware should fix.

Am I reading above that the internal bus's outputs are quantized correctly but the external channels are not. Yes in the case that the 225e delivers MIDI note information to the e-oscillators, the oscillators seem to do very well playing the correct pitch. Meanwhile, the 225e CV outs are not 1.2V p...

The most economical way I can think of has the audio going to two channels of the 292e. Send 281e envelope to one and 281e pulse to the other. Monitor 292e mix output.

Hi folks, bumping this ancient thread. If you are interested in the old Buchla V2 firmware, there was a (lucky) capture on Oct 5 2011, with what I think is the last of the v2 versions here: https://web.archive.org/web/20111005141801if_/http://buchla.com/series200e_firmware.html (although it looks li...

Insofar as minimization of cable lengths is desired, audio flows from bottom to top and CV flows from left to right. Arranging your modules accordingly should result in shorter cables. Short cable runs greatly facilitate patch debugging. I am a strong believer in CV processing module(s) between 281e...

Does the new Primo OS still address the old cards in banks of 15? In short, have the v2 cards been obsoleted? The backup command does not specify a range of presets to backup. In V2, the modules assumed it to be 1-15. In v30, the modules assume the range to be 1-30. So I think that means the old ca...

Would expanded memory allow for a return to 0-99 steps for each sequencer channel? The original cards held 15 presets. That's why the preset manager has the features to shift 15 presets around. You had to store the 30 presets on two cards and use the preset manager to shift them around before savin...

The e series oscillators will track accurately at 1.2 v per octave. I don't think anyone is claiming that :) I think it is true that both the 259e and the 261e are slightly less than 1.2V/oct so some attenuation is needed. The amount of attenuation is not the same for each though. the control volta...

Re: Pitch tracking using CV

Please let me know if I can make this baby track. Its a great sounding oscillator by itself, and it seems a waste to allow it to lie silent coz it won't pitch accurately. The Studio H CSR (Control and Signal Router) shown in the top row in Adam's video can attenuate CV and also boost to ~1.2x. What...

Noise Source with 285e

Hi folks, I had a spare oscillator and an unused 285e in my patch and I wanted a noise source. Tried this and it was great! Timbre knob, frequencies and FM attenuators all had different audible effects. No dead controls. I show it going to the 292e, but in my case I had the 291e in feedback self res...

Maybe she is using the quantizer and/or sending the same CV to more than one oscillator?

You could use a 250e in continuous mode. A ramp CV into the sequencer then advances the stages linearly. Configure pulses on the stages to fire 281e envelopes. Only snag might be pulses triggered by the sequencer on the way back down. Also only two pulses available. All four channels of the 251e cou...

nice that the DB15 fits in the rectangular holes in the Buchla cases. The only snag is that it's getting hard to find short cables in DB15 format. You can't use long cables because the bus will lock up. So maybe it's better to use a more common connector, like the 9 pin serial cable, which still se...

Case interconnection is one for the case builders. You need connectors mounted into the sides so you can run cables. I already have a bus isolator that allows the bus to run across multiple power sources. The circuit could be built onto the powered busboards. If standard connectors are used, then st...

To the original poster's question, a lockup (or preset lockup) happens when at least one module in the system takes control of the preset bus and will not release it. When a lockup happens, one or more modules in the system freezes. The fix is a restart of the system. Lockups are caused by noise or ...
