Re: Behringer: practices, ethics, morals and legitimacy.

If you aren't happy with our current corporate overrun world then sending your hard earned money to a company like Moog instead of Behringer is worth the difference. We're in a consumerist trap where many people will buy a cheaply constructed rip off synthesizer from a company with questionable eth...

Re: Motas-6 synth

Goddamn. i've never seen such serious dedication, and this is a one person operation. I might not set up the new firmware until the long weekend, but i really want to work on some drones with these, and there will be time. If you're on the fence about the motas-6, compare the rate of development wit...

Re: Fred's Lab Töörö on Kickstarter

oh, i'm bad. I love the way these look and the form factor. I just order the buzzzy. The 3 'z's was the deciding factor my buzzzy arrived today, and i must say it bodes well for the Tooro. Docs were confusing at first, but once I got the alt key, and the looping envelopes, the fun escalated. this i...

damn. I broke down and went on a little spending spree. i picked up an erebus v3 and the nyx v2, along with a stand for both, and then picked up a pair of Indian Jori.

Re: Midibox seq v4+

all that means, really, is that most people have a pretty good idea whether they have any diy skills, and simply get one of the recommended builders to build one for them. I have to laugh, really, at the idea of me spending thousands of hours trying to learn to solder, finding the space to set up a ...

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon

cool. thanks. have you used the patch bay much? Does that compensate for the lack of midi modulation? (I will have to look at the manual in more detail.) my current vague impression is that i'd go for the nyx over the erebus, but i don't have a strong preference at this point.

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon

The combination of the modulators and comprehensive midi cc control is pretty great, actually. It looks like this level of modulation is unique among the dreadbox instruments, and that their more expensive machines have much less of it. For instance, i didn't see anything like the midi cc modulation...

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon

yeah. now i'm trying to figure out, since this is sounding so insane - does the step sequencer actually play if the note sequencer is not? manual seems to say it does, but i'm not entirely sure. but the sounds i'm getting are really crazy.

Re: Dreadbox - Typhon

typhon arrived today. could be dumb user here, but the manual says that the modulators can have "multiple destinations for each modulator with different modulation amounts", i'm not sure of how to do that. it looks like there is a single destination per modulator. am i missing something (I hope)? ed...

Re: Motas-6 synth

it's definitely fun, moving from syncing the 2 to editing parameters on #2 which then diverges that synth from the first, etc. Or sending #2 cc values. it looks like setting off the random patch on synth #1 does NOT automatically transmit the random function to #2, which I like. lots of experimentat...

Re: KODAMO EssenceFM - 300 Voice 16 Part Multitimbral FM Rack

Agreed to more filters (as I already posted on Kodamo.org's forum)! Kodamo says, implementing filters is not easy as these need a good amount of processing power: I'd really be fine, if half of all effects got slashed for that!! (anyway, who needs that much FX's - as the EFM has multiple/routable o...

Re: Motas-6 synth

Nelson, it sounds like you are almost there if you have 'thru + all' set....Polychain needs to be ON for both units. You can still edit the patches on #1 and they will send the settings to #2 - this is not a feature of polychain in fact. Polychain is just all about controlling which notes are playe...

thanks for posting. Re: Oberheim Xpander and modern analogue synths

i think that generally, people want xpanders because they have this belief that older instruments are better, and are willing to spend huge amounts of money for them. they take the fact that all of these instruments are unique to some extent, and transmute that into this notion that they are better,...

Re: Motas-6 synth

set the 'thru + all' option, and now i'm getting the proper round robin polychain mode, but i'm still confused about how to get polyphony (in my case, duophony). obviously, the 'thru + all' midi mode needs to be set as the output of the first unit if you want the patches and changes to be transmitte...

I personally doubt that Jon (a 1 person operation) will start putting out different versions of the motas-6. How many keyboard versions of a monophonic synth would get sold? but obviously I cannot answer this question, other than to state my opinion.

As far as the poly chaining - YES. obviously my symptoms were consistent with everything being set up correctly except for the midi out on the first unit in the series. While ...

Re: Motas-6 synth

nah - i'm missing something. i am able to transmit the patch from #1 to #2, but sending sequenced midi to #1 only plays #1, only every other note, and sometimes not playing at all (hah - but i may have a probability setting on the sequencer). but #2 isn't playing at all. isn't that part of the idea....
