Nice little effect - a useful building block - & good you're working with Elevator Sound (just down the road from me).

Also the weird-ass initial switch-on/warm-up behaviour - super-wonky tuning responses on the original until everything gets up to temp!

Re: Recommend Hardware Compressor

Bugbrand stereo compressor sounds great and is very hands on Definitely got my eye on this, but they are out of stock everywhere and can't find any used units Keep your eyes out if interested, seen a few for sale recently. Think they're still occasionally produced Thanks! Last current batch being b...

Re: Macumbista Benjolin V5 with Meng Qi Voltage Memory??

Interface cables - banana to minijack. The first connection is made with a TWIN cable - minijack sleeve goes to a black cable/plug which connects to benjolin 0V/GND socket (presume it has one) - minijack tip goes to a white cable/plug which is your CV path. Once you've established this common 0V/GND...

PEQ2

Moving this from the old PEQ thread.. Pic from yesterday::: IMG_4705.jpg 2 x PEQ2 (proto) + SComp Yes, the PEQ2 is a bit different from the original PEQ but still mono and purely manual (no CV). It now has shelving high & low filters and two mid bands (which have variable width). I think it is about...

Re: Something New from Doc Sketchy

Absolutely with you on the redrawing of schematics -- whether your own or someone elses. You have to get right inside the circuit when doing a big complex design like this, so fighting with someone else's or out-dated schematic is just hampering yourself, even if it can be quite time-consuming re-dr...

Re: Hearn Morley VCO Buffers??

You'd want something like a 50k or 100k (or 50K + trimmer) in series from the negative reference. (A resistor box is a useful thing for such testing - very simple to diy, just solder in series one each of 1k/10k/100k/1M pot as variable resistor, attach probes to each end - now insert that from the s...

Re: Hearn Morley VCO Buffers??

I've got a few old docs which I could send - I know George Hearn & think my old assistant built some of these modules some years back for him. I just didn't know that he was still doing these modules/chips - thought he'd have enough on with his new poly! 5V is only going to give you 5 octaves range....

Re: Hearn Morley VCO Buffers??

It's "just" the standard sort of electronotes saw-core VCO.
Did you try scoping the signals direct from the module, pre-your-buffers?
Are they still made?
Regarding range - what voltage are you feeding? Have you tried negative or just 0V and upwards?

Re: Nanolog parts?

Thanks for the replies - interesting reading (especially reminding to play with diode pairs / series resistance etc) I'm still a little interested to try them sometime despite the price, just out of curiousity. They do a sample pack with several devices for $30 - still overall unlikely to work out c...

Nanolog parts?

Has anyone had any experience with these: https://www.nanologaudio.com/nanolog_devices.html I got an email from them so had a look at the site.. Re: Looking for a sampler

Yeah to SU700s - had one for years, so damn good!
Tried to get back into them a few years back but got one with dodgy encoders - changed them but still had some gremlins and that killed the buzz enough that I never got the momentum back..

Re: Looking for a sampler

You mentioned the electribe - I got one a month or so ago & am enjoying it. It isn't a particularly deep sampler (perhaps comp with old rack samplers) but it has the usual recent korg direct fun inspiration - I have quickly got some very satisfying results out of it! Haven't yet fully integrated it ...

I just checked the files and pretty sure there wasn't a 2pin output header (sin/cos) on the original - perfectly possible to hook up wires to the output sockets though

Re: Volume pedals (pros/cons)

I got a fv-500l recently - seems nice & sturdy. A good thing with the L (low impedance) one is that it has an Exp(ression) socket so you can just use a TRS to connect it as a footpedal for many other pedals. Still kind of maybe want an H version for straight after the guitar but.. prob as Sduck says...

Re: A somewhat selfish list of things I'd like to see Tom make

I got stuck on the Phase design... squeezed something nice into 1FW (similar lines to current PT module) but turns out there needed to be another stage of inversion on the feedback path - haven't had the insight to figure how to sort this... (slightly thought change again to 2FW ... add more etc..) ...
