Re: Don't order from Modular 8

Maybe change the thread title to “shipping is a total crapshoot right now; we’re all just crossing our fingers and hoping for the best.” I’ve received a number of items that USPS said never even shipped. FedEx in Detroit had a 2+ week backlog with items just sitting in trucks waiting to be unpacked....

Intellijel Outs?

Is anyone using the 6hp Intellijel Outs module that could speak to its sound quality? I know the previous generation version (uJack) wasn't particularly well thought of, so I'm curious if any improvements have been made. I'm currently using a WMD Pro Output, which is fantastic, but I really need som...

Re: Your favourite traditional LFO and VCO shape?

LFO: Triangle. I like the symmetry and the slightly sharper rise and fall than a sine lfo. I also use square wave lfos a lot for different purposes like creating sequences or rhythmic effects

VCO: Harder to say, it depends on the sound I’m going for but a pure sine wave is a thing of beauty.

Re: Maths double triggering when using buff mult

IIRC, doesn't the maths trigger input send out a voltage, which screws up some modules that send into Maths? I know people had strange troubles in the past with the meng qi DLPG seizing up when connecting to Maths. The DPLPG seizes up if you youse the unattenuated output of maths, the attenuated ou...

Re: Serge in Euro

Out of curiosity, are there any SSG inspired modules, other than the actual SSG? Sport Modulator Thanks. I took another look at the Sport Modulator's manual, and I wasn't able to make any sense of it. I was never able to make sense of the SSG either, so that seems very authentic ... ;) I love the s...

Re: Using Eurorack to make a crunchy hardcore-ish guitar sound

I was inspired by this thread to experiment with Rings going into the Toppobrillo Triple Wavefolder. I got some great doom metal tones using the square output of the TWF. The way the sound kind of sputters out at the end of a long sustained chord even sounds a bit like unplugging a guitar from an amp.

So just made some test and yes it tracks well (you have to set the channels to half period gates) until around 800 - 1kHz.
Cool - I’d love to hear some audio if you get a chance!

Re: Doepfer a-165 questions

I would get rid of the a160 and get an a160-2! (or keep the 160 as well) I never found the mathmatical very useful and got rid of it almost as soon as i bought it and realised it wasn't puttin gout the clock i was expecting. But yes, i think that 165 should do what you're after. If you have a doepf...

Doepfer a-165 questions

I've got a couple of questions for Doepfer a-165 users. First, am I correct in thinking that you can use an a-165 to get "musical" divisions from a CMOS divider like Doepfer a-160 rather than mathematical? From what I'm seeing in the manual it seems like it should work. Secondly, I don't usually put...

Re: 0-ctrl vs pressure points and Rene

i personally find pressure points to play much better without brains hooked ⬆️, getting 4 gate and pressure outputs makes it a very nice controlleer with rene V1 you can only sequence 2 values over 16 steps (quantized and not), instead of 3 values over 8 steps. if youre just sequencing pitch, rene ...

Re: Which Doepfer Envelopes for Krell?

A-141-2 is one of the best envelopes out there in terms of control. It also has some very clever normaling options which help with patching. It is on the large side (14hp for a single envelope) but if that isn't an issue it's worth a look for sure.

Re: Clock dividers good at frequency division

Circuit Abbey G8 works well at both audio and clock rates and produces multiple subdivisions simultaneously, which you can mix like a Subharmonicon. And you can select how it divides/resets. +1. G8 works great at audiorates and has a few different clockinging options. Good to know. I assumed it wou...

Re: Clock dividers good at frequency division

Remember to check which kind of divider you are getting. For audio rates it probably doesn't matter matter much, but for sequencing there are two types of dividers out there. Thanks for the reply. Yep, I'm aware of the difference having had an a-160 in the past (which is a mathematical divider). Th...

Clock dividers good at frequency division

Which clock dividers do you know of that also make good/interesting audio frequency dividers at audio rates? I'm looking to pick up another clock divider (I have Pam's doing basic clocking) and I'd like one that does frequency division without too much aliasing. Alternatively, I could pick up someth...

Re: Hemisphere for Ornament and Crime

Is there an applet I can use to turn gates into 1ms - 5ms triggers? At a quick glance on github I couldn't find one. You can misuse several of the apps to do this but there isn't a dedicated app for gate to trigger conversion. The clock divider with a division of 1 will do it for instance. You can ...

Re: If you had to pick one OSC for a small system. Which one would that be?

I would rather have two bread and butter oscillators for a small system - there are a ton of possibilities with two analog oscillators and a mixer. Also, any of the through zero oscillators people have mentioned will need a second oscillator to modulate it so consider that when you account for space...

I've never used a Disting, but regarding the "idle pitch," would it be possible to use a sample & hold on the CV out, gated with either an envelope or gate out, whichever is provided? Edit: Granted I'm just getting back into all this stuff after a long absence, but how have I missed this thing?? :h...

Wow this looks great actually. I'd love an expanded version with CV over rate of change but it seems pretty sweet as is.
