It'll be me only hardware poly, so hopefully it'll fit that role well.

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly

Yes, I went with the UDO, paid all upfront, been promised one of the first batch, in blue, so fingers crossed. The deciding factor was the OB-6 suddenly went up £400 overnight in the EU, so it was "fuck that" as it was already more expensive than the Super 6, and the more demos of the latter I heard...

Re: Secret weapon processing (plugins/hardware)

I guess if I had to choose two (one analogue, one digital) so called "secret weapons", although there are no secrets here, it'd have to be Voxengo MSED (used on nearly every project), and my pair of Chandler Germanium Compressors, which I've been using almost daily for over a decade now, and are my ...

Re: Old school house/techno mixing/mastering basic guidelines

I need some disciplinary guidelines to make mixing and mastering a bit easier and enjoyable for me, and most of all practical considering what is the aim. If one searches youtube etc. for something like the title of this topic, one ends up easily into territory of current club music production wher...

Re: Open back headphones

HD600s for over a decade here, don't think any cans come as close for that price. I did the foam mod on mine and got a better cable, they suit me fine. If I was upgrading, I'd be looking at spending over a grand, but I'm not. ;) I tried the 650s and hated them, FWIW.

Re: Boss Waza reissue Dimension C chorus - DC-2W

Got the DC-2W today, absolutely fabulous. I was hoping the digital control signals and new BBD chips would make it sound more solid and modern, and I think they do. So far I tried it on electric guitar into tube amp, electric guitar into stereo DI into monitors, and Moog GrandMother. Sounds great wi...

Re: Boss Waza reissue Dimension C chorus - DC-2W

I'm about to get one from Thomann tomorrow, gonna shoot it out against my Fromel Seraph Deluxe. Main use will be for UDO Super 6 pads (when it eventually arrives...) and stereo guitar rig. Have owned SDD-320, CE-300, DC-2, DC-3 and CE-2 in the past, got rid of all of them after getting the Fromel. I...

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly

The super 6, pure class all the way :tu: I really like this man´s approach...the usual "product specialist" thing shows little more than what you can find in the manual and tends to bore me, but see the emotional extra that the creator puts in this product is really refreshing and makes me like the...

I recently had a chat with George Hearn about his musical background, instrument design, the Super 6 synthesizer, his company UDO Audio and more.

Thanks, that was excellent and informative!

Do you know when the manual you were working on will be available?

Re: U.D.O. Super 6 hybrid "binaural" poly

This thing looks/sounds insane, trying to decide between it and an OB-6 but I'd want some hands on time or the manual at least, for the Super 6, before deciding. OB-6 cheaper in US, Super 6 cheaper in EU.

Re: Why can't I record a guitar tone for shit?

I'm with you. What amp are you using? It's a custom Vyse amp hand built to my spec. The basic amp is an AB763 blackface Deluxe Reverb circuit, but I had the following mods done: Only one channel Mid Control Output Gain Control (can crank Preamp for saturation at apartment levels) DI Out (post pream...

Re: Why can't I record a guitar tone for shit?

Same, zero interest in these modelling things. I have a wonderful amp I love the sound of, full of NOS 50s and 60s Mullard and RCA tubes, and I've spent years honing "my sound" with it. KM84 into TG2 at 96k, voila. If I wanted a million totally different sounds at my fingertips, and a lifetime of se...

Re: Why can't I record a guitar tone for shit?

I agree 100 %! It is very difficult to hear in the headphones how the tone is when you are strumming. I consider to convince my friend to learn guitar, so I can record him :hihi: Yeah, at least with electric you can record a DI track, reamp it through the amp, and have the cans on/waving the mic ab...

Nice one, it sounds great! Same here, I practised these parts every day for about six months before I started recording: https://xetb.bandcamp.com/album/a-leaf-must-fall It's hard if you have no assistant because you have to play and try and listen at the same time to different mic positions etc., n...

Re: What upgrades for a regular new guitar?

First thing to do with a new electric is take it straight to a luthier for assessment and do whatever they recommend to get it up to scratch. If you're lucky it might only need a basic setup, fairly quick and not too expensive, but if you really want it to play its best they might recommend full fre...

Re: Moogerfooger Drive vs the Minifooger Drive

I've owned a few MoogerFoogers and a few MiniFoogers over the years, and yes, the MiniFooger Drive can sound very similar to the larger Fooger drive, BUT it is WAY more versatile! I love mine and will never sell it, whereas all the big Foogers are long gone. So I say yes, go for it, I think you'd be...

Re: Why can't I record a guitar tone for shit?

Yeah, I just skipped through some pages too, but also quite a lot of good info from the OP. I hate to sound like a grouchy old man, but I really think the problem is people just do not want to put their 10,000 hours in any more (on an instrument, or mixing, or mastering, or whatever), and expect all...
