Re: a legend is back...System-700 in eurorack

Looks like Synthcube only have kits, which is ok for beginners who don't have a stock of parts, but like most I prefer to buy PCB/Panel sets as I have a good stock of parts and can't justify spending 5 times the price to buy parts I've already invested in. Besides I'm in the uk, so I'd have shipping...

Bending a Behrnger RD 8

I'm in the process of modifying a Behringer RD-8, which I recently posted about. I've managed to get all the mods sounding really nice, but after I'd put it back together I realised the wave designer is not working... If I switch all the sends from all the instruments on, it plays quietly (I'm guess...

Re: a legend is back...System-700 in eurorack

I'm guessing that sequencer is a dead hope. I was just on the Pharmasonic site, looks like the sequencer has been pulled, and no sign of the 715 filter either. Has anyone received any other orders from Pharmasonic recently? I'm a little reluctant to make any orders just now if everything is halted.

Looking for a transistor...

During my exploration of the Behringer RD 8 PCB, I was pobing for mods, and managed to set the magic smoke free from a SMD transistor labelled T11 (next to the BD tuning pot). All that's left on the surface of the package is '33', there is a similar looking 33 on a nearby transistor, so I'm guessing...

The square pad is negative on these so electrolytic caps look good. Pinout looks correct on transistor pair. The right header connection looks like it might have a short between the bottom two pins.
It was indeed a short on the header. Well spotted, thank you!

Great sounding filter!

Timo Rozendal Steiner Parker filter, help needed

Hi, I have finished building the Steiner Parker filter by Timo Rozendal. It passes audio, but I cannot seem to make it do anything not from the panel pots or the trimmers - ie. the filter is fixed fully open. Resonance appears to go into self oscillation when turned fully clockwise, but it's hard to...

Coloured panels on DIY modules...

One of the things I love about DIY is the aesthetics of the final system. So far I've built an all silver system, an all black system, and after building Timo Rozendal's red Steiner Filter, I now want to branch out to building a load of different coloured modules. Looking for single colour per panel...

I am building another FM ogre. I wonder if anyone knows where I can source the FM processor chip? I think I got the last one with the PCB/panel set. Thanks in advance...

Re: a legend is back...System-700 in eurorack

It's been crickets since I sent them hundreds of dollars in October to pre-order two of these sequencers. The announced mid-November ship date came and went nearly a half year ago now. There have been no updates from Pharmasonic about it that I've seen (and I've been looking!), although they seem t...

What year did Korg change the MS20 filter?

I recently saw an advert for a 1978 MS20 with the OTA filter. I'm sure it was a mistake, but got me thinking, what year did Korg change the MS20 filter? I have an MS10 and MS20, both with Korg 35 filters, they also have dark grey panels rather than the black on the later models. Did they change the ...

If so, the 715 Multimode Filters will be available next week.

I'm running two PSU's in my system. When it comes to wiring your modules, separate oscillators and filters to one PSU, and LFO's & modulation sources to the other... You'll save yourself the headache of LFO / modulation pulldown on your oscillators & filters.

"modulars" is a loose term, specify... If you're powering a 5U MOTM system with +/-15VDC then it's fine, put it into a eurorack which expects +12/-12/+5VDC and you would run into problems, potentially damaging modules by overpowering. Specify which system you're looking to power. The chart at the bo...

I was using the multicore braid for a long time, which was rather expensive as average braid goes. A few years ago I was on the electronics market in Bangkok and discovered the Japanese 'GootWick' braid, which comes in many widths and lengths. This stuff is ace, and was very reasonably priced (as al...

Yes, I'm alive... I had to rework the 715 Multimode Filters because although it was working I didn't like the layout. I should have the new PCB's and panels next week. That 715 is an instant buy the moment it goes up for sale. Availability of obsolete chips is the reason I won't make a clone of the...

your switch most likely has a bad internal connection, or there is a bad solder joint to the resistor chain at that point. measure the voltage at each point along the switch contacts. if the 8' contact is 0V at the switch, then there is a bad solder joint or broken trace. if its 2V, then there is a...

I was looking at the manual and reading through the various modules, the Frequency to Voltage feature on the 714 looks interesting. Is this something that's likely to be looked at?
