yes - you can always pickup noise in environments with multiple cheap wallwarts in the game, this of course especially includes cheap usb-power charges.. i have a 0.5mm tip as well and i can solder it, but let's say i have certain (20yrs+) experience. the type-C connector is small. this version got...

Re: DIY powersupply for eurorack or other things -> IPS2

Can I ask why you’ve opted for 4 x 4.7uf output caps (even those the Datasheet shows this) over a single output cap of 22uf( which the Datasheet also shows) if you read the datasheet a little further you can see that also there are 4x4u7 used for the testings, 22uF is just the approx. needed value ...

Re: Sampler for ambient / noise couch jams

I‘d have a look out if you find a elektron octatrack for decent money. Beeing sample based but offering a loooot of mangling possibilities. I imagine if you start with ambient-ish sample material it could bring you closer towards that noisy end of ambient you are looking for. With maybe also allowin...

Re: hilarious 1HP modules / ideas

TT as in Teletype? In 8hp? Is this for real? Also, there is no miniaturisation trend. That was something that happened when Intellijel first started out, and it stopped after a few years. What you see is people wanting to have small cases to carry at gigs. It's a different problem, part of the solu...

Re: hilarious 1HP modules / ideas

to be honest about all the miniaturisation trend: i also do my tries & errors in this area. 2nd-last thing i layouted was the zerORAC, a TT within 8HP, possibly running ORAC. -> but i see it as a challenge on how to layout a HUI that small. i am still nowhere in this area, but hope to gain experienc...

Re: hilarious 1HP modules / ideas

Maybe a 1hp ‚glitched‘ multiple? Just like the Bastl Wackelkontakt. You plug the cables not completely in and they are somewhat loosely hanging in the slots, so it comes that some signals get lost. Sounds silly and it is i think😂 i have one of the wackelkonakt'z, in my rack since 2016 :) that is wh...

Re: hilarious 1HP modules / ideas

VU, or headphone output? ....have an HPO and trying to get between jacks to adjust volume can be a pain even at 2hp! But say VU or photodiodes with seismic’s prepatching jumper could be rad... 1hp expanders to a more sensible input/output. But also feels like a more complicated solution than any ‘p...

Re: hilarious 1HP modules / ideas

Bigger panels for the 2hp ant the picos :) nice one!

But i think this trend is less or more over. Eurorack is still a small formfactor but at least people want more space now

Re: terminal tedium (raspberry zero, pi2, pi3 codec / pd thing)

hmm, maybe someone with experience with the WM8731 can help out here: i try to DC couple the output of the codec, as i'd love to generate some X/Y data for my ILDA laser.. Screenshot 2020-10-23 at 08.41.00 1.png i added an offset so the output swing should be +/- 5V when 0-3.3V comes from the WM8731...

Re: hilarious 1HP modules / ideas

I donno, but i think there are pretty slim plugs around. Personally the tiny-mania makes not really sense to me, and i also dont like it. I like space! I like flat/shallow designs :) but so far i am alone in that district.. I kinda just wanted to make an example and reflect the trend in eurorack to ...

Stages can be chained up to modules, so ...

Re: hilarious 1HP modules / ideas

Jacks won't fit in 1HP. It's only .200" 5mm wide and a plug tip is .138" 3.5mm Oh, thought seismic found jacks that would work.... Is there rules of 1hp that can be listed (and then broken)? yes - there is one that should fit. (untested..) CUI_DEVICES_SJ-3502-SMT-TR but it'll need a full cutout on ...

If the logo were moved to the right, the metal could be thermally coupled to the chip -not ideally, but better than free air? Maybe you were going for convective cooling? i mounted the bare metal thing into my case, and that gave it a lot more strength. :) i like. there is another module on the adjacent right side and nothing on the left side. my case is milled from solid aluminium and thus has fairly "slim rails", so maybe a common case will be even helping here a l...

Re: hilarious 1HP modules / ideas

Sheetmetal parts came in today. Looking good! I like the twist-lock tabs. :tu: Though I'd still prefer to see a longer main bend with shorter extensions for the rails. Since the tabs -and part- are laser cut, there's no reason not to do so. Still worried about flexing bending in use due to top and ...
