Re: Tape for labeling gear?

This labeling tape is great. I've recently pulled some of it up that was down on a mixer for a while, not gunk at all. Same with cables. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N45X83Y . Comes in different colors and widths. It's technically pretty pricey, but I think it's worth it. I don't do a ton of...

I think it's important to consider this from a compositional perspective, not just a technical mixing one... Does your track have all the elements in there that you want? I do find mixing a compositional technique, and things can be mixed differently to allow more or less of the elements to come thr...

Can anyone tell me if the outputs are balanced or unbalanced? The manual isn't clear.

Also - is anyone here using a USB sound card to get audio in?

Can 2 channels of audio be used at the same time? Manual seems to say yes, but that the channels will be summed to mono - is this true?

Thanks!

What about the Yamaha MG16XU? I'm not sure how the Behringer works with audio over USB, but my 10 channel Yamaha mixer only sends the master stereo track into the computer, and can only receive a stereo track out of the computer, not sure if that's a deal breaker for you or not, but I think all mix...

The knobs are Sifam/Selco brand, and are collet style (at least on the Nord Modulars they are). Sifam is UK based but probably have order minimums, though they may be helpful and/or be able to send you a sample of just one. I know Thonk carries some variety of their knobs, but I'm not sure if they h...

This product seems more like a midified Rene than a traditional hardware midi sequencer. A 'patterner', like tioJim said. Which is cool and I'm thinking of grabbing one. But some way of automating all those real time sequence manipulation features would really boost this to the level of a must-have...

Not looking promising on the change patterns from external source. There's no program change receive mentioned in the MIDI spec http://docs.pioneerdj.com/Manuals/TORAIZ_SQUID_SQUID_MIDI_Implementation_Guide_EN_addendum/?_ga=2.75507733.1624516249.1556096497-2002631217.1508871090#/ Just curious why y...

Where do you get 1 bar? It says 64 steps per track then with divisions should be the same lengths as engine, octratrack, etc. I saw that on the panel, but is that any combination of 64 steps? From the manual, if I recall, the smallest resolution is 1/32, that means it'd be 2 bars max. Largest is 1/...

The one concern I have is the max length of each pattern (I think that's the right nomenclature) seems to be built around 1 bar. Or if it gets longer it's because it's one bar in half-time, or probability options. I do get that it seems totally geared toward hands-on manipulation though, so it shoul...

being able to scan between that many filter modes sounds fantastic, i'm especially curious what this will sound like at audio rate. lots of potentials here...!

[2] Arranging: i would like to have 2-3 variants of a bassline. To try some variation but keeping the old one. How can I do this? Right now I would have to use a different track, which quickly gets confusing and I have to handle the mute states manually. I know that this is the original MPC workflo...

I only have experience with older workhorse Mackie mixers or those new small VLZ ones, and I've never used a Midas Venice. I used to have a couple of Allen & Heath Mixwizard 3s, and the Soundcraft mixer which is comparable to them, but the name escapes me now. The APB sounds great. I like the sound ...

There are 2 versions that are taller, and there maybe other varieties of these banana plugs which offer taller studs.. check out p/n 4512 or 4511. 4512 will have a thicker diameter stud than the other: https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/159/d3263_64_4511_12_1_01-65780.pdf . They're as stiff as any pomona banana plug in a jack. I find pomonas to fit a bit tighter than other connectors.. There's a couple of degrees of motion, depending on how deep they're interested, but they feel good, not like they'll slip underneath your fingers or hand. This is the great thing about ...

Pomona makes these, and there's a variety of stud length, diameter, etc. Not the cheapest thing, but no need to cut anything up: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Pomona-Electronics/3264?qs=sGAEpiMZZMtTOasXncsdUSyEpyO6wEB12%2fMZwOHBaJQ%3d .
