Re: Doing more with less

No. It's a Behringer clone! :hihi: Actually, I just flipped the panel. I LOVE the module! I flipped it because of the right-side-up/upside-down lettering scrambling my pea brain. Dude! is that a Synthwerks SP-4DP with the graphics removed? Or panel put on reversed? Don't like my graphics? I'm Bummed...

Re: Best CAT5 cables for sending audio over Doepfer Multicore

I've had good luck with cables from VPI. I got one left-angle to left-angle cable and one right-angle to right-angle cable. Both 9ft long. I haven't noticed any crosstalk when I'm sending audio.

Re: Doing more with less

I just put my new 4ms VCA Matrix in the case. It has a nice, saturated sound when you crank the levels, but the signal doesn't break up into a wall of distorted noise (so far). Of course, I'll no doubt add distorted noise at the output sometimes. If your case is flat or angled, the staggered jacks p...

Re: Doing more with less

Thanks, gonkulator. I think I can deal with that. I'm sorely tempted to get a VCA Matrix.

Edit - ordered one. This will be my third matrix mixer after an NLC Cluster and an A-138m. I'm hoping the VCA Matrix will combine the best features of the other two.

Re: Doing more with less

ersatzplanet, or anyone else, how do you find the knob spacing on the VCA Matrix. Is it fat fingers friendly?. Ersatzplanet: If I may ask it is sometimes mentioned/criticized that the vcam has log control law for cv (unlinearised 2164), which should theoretically be okay for audio. :hmm: Did that ev...

Re: Doing more with less

ersatzplanet, thanks for posting your setup! Sound sources, matrix mixers, filters. I'm starting to work with something similar. This is inspiring. How do you like the 4ms VCA Matrix? I have a Nonlinearcircuits Cluster 4x8 VCA matrix mixer that I've yet to really explore. Here's Simon Grab's setup f...

Re: Doing more with less

I, like many, have decided to reduce my rig to a smaller one. I have embraced another sort of limitation. I have reduced my rig to mainly a file playing rig (sample players and granular players) and have dumped all but two VCOs. This has changed my playing style a lot. I look at the process differe...

Re: Doing more with less

Pelsea, you make some important points. If you obsess over things that don't enhance creation, whatever they are, you're probably not on the right track if creation is your goal. But that's not limited to thinking about limitations.

Re: Doing more with less

This is an interesting question. I'd like to expand on it a bit. The notions of limitations, and by extension, simplicity and minimalism can be helpful and productive for at least some people. "Some people" is the operative term. The unfortunate thing is that these kind of discussions often lead int...

Re: Sherman Filterbank love?

In this video it explains how to keep the A/R open using a continuous CV or audio signal so that you can reduce the input volume and thus introduce less distortion. Really makes the Sherman more versatile.

Scott from Intellijel kindly answered my questions via email. "Scott Riesterer (Intellijel Designs Inc.) Nov 18, 13:05 PST 1. Yes it is safe to connect a 90w meanwell to the TPS30W, but it will not increase the current to +3A/-3A. 2. They are slightly different. However, because the board mounting i...

Intellijel 80W PSU with 30W busboard

Hi

Can I use an Intellijel TPS80 PSU to power a Intellijel 30W busboard so that I can get +12V output at 3000 mA, -12V output at 3000 mA? I want to run my Metasonix modules in my intellijel 104hp x 7u case.

If not, will the Intellijel 80W busboard fit into the mounts on the 104hp x 7u case?

I know that you're focusing on the Erica and the Trogotronic, but the Metasonix RK2 has a wonderful, varied range that can go from subtle to pure destruction. I see a lot of praise for the R-53/RK3. Does anyone have any REALLY good/interesting/magical audio examples of the R-53 or RK3 that they can share? I mean really remarkable. I have an R-53 and, sadly, I've never been able to get anything beyond a few odd squelches at certain settings. I drink the ye...

Thanks for the explanation. I understand that 4u is taller than Eurorack (3u), but is there any advantage, given that the vast majority of modules are built for Eurorack? Or is it just about wanting to provide Metasonix modules in other sizes? I'm just curious.
