jfloftin I think you had a pretty good run with that pot ! The only sealed Alphas I've every seen are the Tayda 16mm ones. They aren't what I'd call high end at all. Maybe Small Bear pots and covers separately. I think they carry them.

Re: Does Serge make sense for Noob?
My very first experience with Modular was in 2010 building the Panel #3 (you can find this still on the Best Of CGS Build Thread on Muffs, it's the second one from the top). Over the next two or three years I had completed : Panel #3, BOG, MARSH, SWAMP then later the COA Vintage Voltron Panels 1-4 a...

For SSG, On the Smooth side : Patch IN to CYCLE If your Smooth side is working ok, you will see the LED on the Smooth side lighting and dimming at a rate selected by the Rate pot. On the Stepped side : Patch IN to CYCLE Then... Patch a Cable between the CYCLE on the Smooth side and the SAMPLE in on ...

Re: What Boats Were Used for the COA Vintage Voltron Panels?
The panel is a one of a kind custom panel. rampy the other daughterboards are the Gain Cells on my VCFQ and the Channel boards from the ew Elby version of the DCSM. I was never happy with the DCSM using Gain Cells so i tried the CGS506 MCSM. Repeater Yes. I'm happy enough. Hasn't blown up yet but do...

Re: What Boats Were Used for the COA Vintage Voltron Panels?
I have had my best build with my last one, didn't need to nibble the BUD AC423 at all. I could do this by not running any cables outside of the width of the CGS Powered rails. I varied the height of the Modules within the 3" of clearance (depth) using different sized standoffs. This allowed me to sl...

Re: Cgs114 dusg grounding issue?
If you're going Banana to Minijack then you'll need to make a split cable as in the image below. This one has a ¼ inch jack end but the concept is the same for minijack."nana GND to sleeve ,'nana Signal to tip. I tie the GND end to the GND of the Power input jack and the whole thing to the Chassis. ...

Re: only +11.25V on Meanwell rt-50b
It could cause some tuning problems if certain parts of the circuit require exactly 12V. It really depends on what your using it for.
I would consult the manufacturer of the modules you are using it for.

I never found a fix for this, then the place I sent it to to have a look at it burned down. So it's not a problem anymore.

Re: CGS506 MCSM - Has anyone built it ?
Ok, so I finished it. I haven't properly calibrated it yet but it sounds pretty amazing. :sb: :sb: :sb: The handling of Gain CV Input is less explosive and really controllable. Overall the sound is better than CGS101 and the panning is incredible. I always found the Gain Cells in CGS101 very difficu...

Re: Does Serge make sense for Noob?
My very first modular was a serge and I've always loved them. I have had moments of madness where I've sold a system and flirted with euro or buchla or wiard 300 but I've always come back to serge. The sound is the most obvious reason, they sound incredible on a small or large sound system. The int...

Re: Case Recommendations for Serge Systems
I've built 9 x Full panels of CGS/Serge since 2011 but have never actually mounted them in a a single case. I build everything into the standard BUD Industries AC-423 Boats then just power them either individually or by connecting through XLR power connectors. Although it's not a single case, it mak...

CGS506 MCSM - Has anyone built it ?
I just stumbled upon the CGS506 this morning.  :goo: :goo: I have always been frustrated with the performance of the CGS101 DSCM and this seems to have directly addressed some the issues I had such a problem with, namely the explosive gain on the Gain CV inputs (which I guessed had so...

Can I ask a quick tech question ? I need to replace a damaged 10ohm resistor in a 5U synthesiser.com module. Would I be ok to just use a slightly different value, say 12ohm or a ferrite bead ? I'm assuming that the 10ohm resistors do the same thing as a ferrite does in Serge stuff, (which I have bui...

I built a dual version , 2 x Benjolins only.
