A possible problem might be the lack of dedicated MIDI tracks on the Elektron. If 6 audio/MIDI tracks total is ok and you can get by without the sampling capabilities, I think the Elektron might be better. The MIDI isn't a problem, I have no other MIDI gear. In fact, I'd have to figure out a MIDI t...

I'm wondering how this stacks up against a Electribe Sampler, I might be looking to add a sample based drum machine with my eurorack rig... I have a lot of experience with the Electribe Sampler, which I am slowly replacing with the Digitakt. The Electribe is very easy to use and versatile, but I as...

Not too sure about this. It's almost like they are pushing the Digitakt instead. I understand the appeal of portability and simplicity, but they removed the sampling capability, which makes a lot of sense for something portable that you want to use near a turntable or a tape deck. No dedicated MIDI ...

Felix, Are there any plans to sell this on the market ? An expansion box for the MG is a fantastic idea. Also, is the filter "multi-mode" ? I think both high-pass and bandpass options would be super helpful when mixing the MG with other sources. It is the only thing I find missing in the MG. Anyway,...

I might get the VP-03 just for the choir and string sounds. Waiting for some in depth videos of those sections.

Now, if Roland release a full blown Boutique RS string machine, I'd be very happy.

Awesome Felix !

It has a great "folk-looking" feeling, a bit like an accordion. The strap is a good idea.

https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix2/1283_photo12_1.jpg This is my current composition/performance core setup. A few comments on the arrangement : 1) The box with the mixer is the main "hub". It powers everything else (to save time while setting up). I have a TC Electronic Hall of fame reverb...

I like how "real" this setup looks. What kind of case is this ? BTW, I find it very punk-looking. I mean this as a compliment !

Cheers,

Your advice is needed : mixing backing tracks.

Hey there. I'm preparing for a few upcoming performances with my modular. This time, I'll be using a sequencer/sampler for some backing stuff (mostly basic stuff, beats, assorted textures and percussions), Nothing too extreme since, obviously, the modular needs to be at the fore-front. Now, I'm tryi...

I usually program basic rhytms on hardware drum machines and, if the groove is ok, i proceed with locking everything else via MIDI to an old version of Pro Tools on my Mac. I find slaved hardware stuff like the original Beatstep or most of Electribes are "tight" enough. It isn't always perfect of co...

Solid start!

Ok, now the trick is to learn to make the most of what you have now. Next, I'd look for a quantizer and sequencer, maybe.

Ok, before you do anything, read the sticky thread on top of this page regarding module connection to power. VERY IMPORTANT.

Also, always unplug the adapter before opening the system.

Congratulations BTW.

Yes, a very good year. I have good memories of the music of this period in general, but I am not nostalgic about it for some reasons (creeping use of computers vs. hardware, increasingly technical and dull IDM). However, I admit missing the kind of optimism, the fun and the sense of discovery that e...

I think it is a very good starter setup to transition toward the "full modular" environment. You don't have to start to mix and match from the beginnning. The important thing is to understand the basics about the typical synth voice (VCO/VCF/VCA), and then expand from there. I like how the Pitts "+"...

This was the minimal/portable setup I used for my last 2-3 gigs. It could easily fit on half the backseat of my car. Nothing fancy, but for the kind of ambient stuff I like, it got the job done : -Mackie 802vlz (plus tuner and a few FX pedals); -6U modular (2-4 "voices" depending of the patch); -SH-...
