Re: Behringer TD-3

Thanks for the answer! No worries - it's very easy to get at and tweak the pot, so just avoid screwing the TD fully back together until you're happy with it and you'll be sorted in no time. It definitely helped a lot (until my recent discovery), my TD was way too bright out of the box - maybe that'...

Re: Behringer TD-3

Question for those that have done the VCF mod to make the TD-3 ‘darker’... How far did you have to turn the screw to the left to achieve a tone that was more similar to a TB-303? It wasn't much - my first attempt overshot the mark (I was A/Bing it with a genuine 303). However, I recently had the TD...

Re: MPC Live II availability/impressions?

you know you can have separate track lengths on the mpc as well? from the track page you can tell the different tracks to loop the entire SEQ or just an arbitrary number of beats from them. of course it will reset on the normal sequence length, but if thats a problem you can create an empty very lo...

Re: Polyend Tracker

* The Tracker has less modulation/FX options than the Digitakt, which is a bit disappointing - as a bunch of these could surely be easily implemented to give greater dynamism. I'd love to have FX control over the delay time and feedback, but mainly what I struggle with compared to, say, the Digitak...

Re: Behringer TD-3

I do recommend checking our the internal filter tweak and the effect it can have - it brought mine into line considerably, and let me use the full range of the freq knob without 'going over'. You may prefer the sound of the higher range, but for me taming it was the key to keeping the TD-3, which I'...

Re: Polyend Tracker

Cool, should we give you a list of stuff to write off? Let's get this done :hihi: I already included most of them! Although I'll throw in full-sized MIDI ports, I'm pretty sure they said they'd never add those in an update. Just had a play with the timestretch - can take a while to process the prev...

Re: Polyend Tracker

Curious though-- were you using a tracker as your main DAW before Tracker? Not exclusively or heavily, but I started out with OctaMED on the Amiga and am a fully paid up Renoise user (and fan), so I'm certainly familiar with the potential. Of course the Tracker sits somewhere between the two in ter...

And of course no sooner do I waffle on about features like timestretch being missing by design than a new beta firmware is announced featuring timestretch. Happy to help!

Re: Polyend Tracker

My impression and my assumption, based on feedback from the devs in the Facebook group, is that it won't happen because the Tracker is designed around many of its perceived limitations ('short' samples, mono, no timestretch, no live resampling, etc.). Personally I don't see a need for it with the Tr...

Re: Arturia MicroFreak

Question for those of you actually using this: When using the CV Out with the sequencer - does glide actually apply to the CV out? Just curious if the sequencer could actually do acid-style sequences with external gear... Just checked with the Microfreak and Plaits, and I couldn't make the glide kn...

Re: MPC One the way to go?

I think if 2gb of sampling RAM isn't enough, you're probably working at a level where you need a serious pro PC setup, not a £600 all-in-one unit. That's two hundred and fifty S1000s! Admittedly you'd get a bit more polyphony out of that setup, but think of the cables.

Re: Cleaning smoky gear :(

Does the smell not disappear after a few months? I thought it did on smoked gear I bought but maybe that wasn't heavily infiltrated. I sympathize with you, is a rank smell I wasn't really willing to give my example a few months, but I suspect it all depends on the level of exposure. This SU10 had o...

Re: Cleaning smoky gear :(

I bought a Yamaha SU10 that smelled absolutely rank, unusably so. I knew things were looking bad when the parcel itself stank. Since it was a small and cheap piece of kit, I was happy enough to try dismantling it to clean it properly in sections, but even though some parts were improved, I couldn't ...

Re: Polyend Tracker

Just an update on my last post - I raised a bug report in the Github repository yesterday reporting the volume roll issue. Woke up this morning to find the bug had been confirmed, flagged, fixed and there was a new firmware already available with that and various other improvements. Phenomenal!

Re: Polyend Tracker

Alright, I'm in and enjoying it so far - took a little while to get used to the button & wheel combo, but it all makes sense. For anyone using the latest Github firmware - which does make a lot of nice changes - have you encountered a problem with the volume of roll FX? I find that in 1.1.22 - but n...

You got PM - I attached the actual manual
Thanks! This is bound to ensure the official one comes back, but in the meantime I can at least brush up on a few points in advance.

Re: Polyend Tracker

Yeah, the Github does show they've been busy, though as with anything you should only really base a purchase on the current offering - which I'm happy with in this instance. I'm sure the manual is just a temporary blip, but it's still a drag when it's the only official source of info - just a note s...

Re: Polyend Tracker

I'm aboard as of tomorrow, if the courier comes through. I've wavered on this one for a while, but having gone back to my various samplers I've decided the Tracker has a place - I'm an Octamed veteran for one thing, and I'm also very interested in the performance effects element, which doesn't have ...

Re: 1010music Bluebox - Compact Digital Mixer/Recorder

Hmm, interesting. The Blackbox is already a good tool for this on a per-track basis. The only things I'm not sure about here are everything being 3.5mm, and the MIDI jacks being at the front (and clock I/O like the Blackbox would definitely give it an extra 20% desirability). Certainly keeping my ey...

Re: New Novation / Aphex Collab Coming Soon ???

It definitely says AFX STATION on the image, so my guess would be something based on the BS2, but with the AFX mode pushed to the fore and more flexible / beat-oriented sequencing added. So basically a Circuit / Circuit Mono Station mashup, retooled for Aphex-friendly activities. Which sounds good e...

Re: MPC One the way to go?

I use a Behringer Xenyx mixer with the MPC inputs hooked up to the sub outputs, and the MPC itself going to one of the main channels. So to sample something from the mixer, I just send it to the subs and mute it on the main outputs, and job done. Any mixer that lets you select between sub and main o...

Re: Polyend Tracker

I'm increasingly tempted by it, so it's probably for the best it's not immediately available right now. I know it's outperformed by the Octatrack (and a few other pieces I already own), but having gotten into this whole mess thanks to OctaMED, the Tracker is hard to resist - and the workflow and int...

Re: Tascam Model 12 (With Midi!)

I don't know how I missed this, but it's gone straight up to the top of my to-buy list pending further investigation. I've been pining for a modern MIDI-capable mixer-recorder for a long time, and making do with an old Yamaha AW16G. Lately I've switched to audio tracks on the MPC One, which is less ...

Re: Roland TR8S questions

I recently got an 8S after years of using the regular -8 every day. The 8S really rules in general and feels like a nice upgrade. But: - there's no global assigning of individual outputs, which makes me INSANE. It has to be set and saved per kit. - the menu diving is really bad for everything other...

Re: MPC One the way to go?

I notice people have said the Digitakt is better for live performances, and live performances is what I am mostly interested in to be honest. Wouldn't the MPC one be good for live performances though? As I lay down each drum instrument onto separate mutable track, I can do so in real time tapping t...
