Re: Pin Hornet vs. Portabella
A few days ago me and a fellow Portabella owner put our machines together for a comparison. Not too many differences, especially soundwise it seemed more or less the same, but there are a few little ones. There's a different behaviour of the random voltage generator (much faster rate on v2019). The ...

Re: Re:
I thought I read on the Multi Engine mode, you can play the SammichSID as a 6-voice polysynth? Is that incorrect? I'm not 100% sure... :hihi: I didn't dive too deep into the menu because it was too much of a headscratcher for me. But I can't recall playing any preset sounds that were 6 separate voi...

Re: Re:
Any chance you could chime in on my previous question about summing to work as a 6-voice synth? Are you able to do this? Not really. You can trigger the 3 voices separately but with two SIDs installed you can't address each voice separately. As per the manual these are your options: Paraphonic Mode...

Re: new HORNET synth
Has anyone tried Papz SQ-1 with a Hornet or Portabella? Portabella and Hornet don't have the 8 pins Jones socket that the Synthi has, so I don't think that's possible. I use various Eurorack, MPC X and Keystep with my Portabella. All work just fine, so a regular SQ-1 with CV/gate out would be same,...

Re: Pin Hornet vs. Portabella
Also still trying to get used to the gain staging, this thing is SUPER dirty. Yeah, I try to keep the levels at around 6 if i want a cleaner sound; above that will introduce distortion. Green and black are attenuating pins — green is 6.8 kOhm and black is 68 kOhm both with 2% tolerance. At the mome...

Re: Slider caps?
If you want black ones; I needed about 60+ caps for my TTSH. I bought a cheap second hand Behringer EQ (FBQ-3102 for €50,-). Took off all the caps and sold the EQ without caps (even with a small profit, so I even MADE money doing this). There's a thread on that over here: https://www.muffwiggler.com...

Re: IF YOU WERE TO START YOUR JOURNEY AGAIN
I have sort of started over a year ago. Since 2014 my system grew to a 27U 104 HP monster and I found that it was getting too big. Because I alredy had quite a few Make Noise modules I decided to slim down to a 15U setup with mostly Make Noise modules. At the moment 85% or so is Make Noise, the othe...

Finally finished mine:

Needed a bit of help with the wiring, but works great now. Still have a second one to wire though.

Re: new HORNET synth
The Portabella is quite an instrument, but I have never tried the RVG Trig out...has anyone had any experience triggering say, a Roland drum machine? Best, John I just tried it out of curiosity after your post. I hooked it up to the trigger inputs of a Nord Drum. I found it needed a bit of amplific...

Re: new HORNET synth
I ordered mine in last March, received it August. Communication went very smooth, Sandro is very quick to respond to any questions. I went for the discount action he had back then; €1000,- cheaper (ex VAT) and with CV/Gate instead of the MIDI interface. I think he might have switched to the CV/Gate ...

Scaled down last March, from 27U to 15U (~85% of that only Make Noise). Put the funds of the sold items into a Synthi clone, Pin Electronics Portabella. It works much better for me. Having too many options doesn't spark creativity for me, apparently. Besides Eurorack I've sold some other items as we...

It's funny, but in this video, the vocals are what I like the least. Really? Well, maybe I'm a bit prejudiced. Possessed has always been one of my favourite metal bands and that was mainly because of Jeff's vocals. This album sounds just like almost no time has past since this and the Eyes of horro...

I haven't listenend to metal a lot the past 25 years but I just had to take a listen to the new Possessed album. And wow, just for the vocals I would actually buy it. Jeff has been one of my all-time favourite metal vocalists and he doesn't disappoint here, such an EVIL sounding voice. :sb: [video]h...

Apparently my love for Nick Cave comes (and goes) in waves. Let love in was my favourite and Boatmans call was an OK successor, but most of the material afterwards I found rather mediocre (with a few exceptions). Push the sky away and Live from KCRW were incredible though, so I bought Skeleton tree ...

Re: Alessandro Cortini 2019 live-shows
I saw him last March when he performed the entire Avanti set, he was just using his four-track tape recorder. Has he switched to a laptop now? It's probably more convenient, but I liked the cassette approach.Portabella wrote:He played the full album and I guess most of thee performance comes off a computer.

Since most of my setup consists of Make Noise modules my OCD demanded that I change the knobs on the other brands to Rogans. Ordered from Thonk, they look nice on both Noise Engineering and AMSynths modules. https://i.postimg.cc/5tN3yTdr/0-F68-BDED-A8-F0-41-B2-AD78-0-B5357-C6-DCD2.jpg https://i.post...

Downscaled from 27U or something to 15U in the last couple of months. most manufacturers won’t state board performance specs properly That's just a moo point when you design your own cheeseboard isn't it? I like to put the D and the I and the Y in dairy. Then again I also like to put pre-fabbed cloudy-type cheese through harder cheeserings just as much as the next gu...

It's this or the Qu-Bit Synapse. Since you're in the NL, there's a Rxmx+Fxdf combo for sale here . I have my DPO connected directly to the Rxmx instead of the Fxdf. Having the extra waveforms out of the DPO makes that the preferred option for me. There is indeed not quite much out there that would ...
