Re: Regret worrying about hp?
It's a good thing to think about what you want to be able to do with your rack and effeciently use space to achieve that. I've made it to a place though where I'm increasingly concerned about knob and jack layout. My ideal is a 6U where the top row of modules are all ones with jacks at the bottom of...

I still miss my ESQ-1. Sold it since I didn't have room for keyboards but was too late to get the rackmount version before prices exploded. I still keep any eye out for them though.

Re: The Elektron Model:Cycles Thread
Model-cycles gets me excited about the design aspect of it and morphing a sound to be exactly what you need for a song but I don't know how versatile it is. I don't want 2 drum machines and I had the drum brute experience which really sucked IMO with regards to the usability of sounds. Drumbrute in...

Re: The Elektron Model:Cycles Thread
I think the Samples is a bit like a crippled Digitakt, while the Cycles is definitely not a crippled Digitone... it punches way above its weight IMO. Obviously, you can’t get deep into the nitty gritty of FM parameters, but it’s got great range and you won’t be dependent on a class compliant host f...

Re: BIA analog alternatives?
SSF Entity Percussion is an analog module that gives you a huge amount of flexibility. It's not a BIA, but nothing else really is. The manual for the Basimilus does diagram out the voice structure. Maybe you can get some patch ideas from that using what ever oscillators and wavefolders you have.

Re: How did you pick your sequencer?
Thank you who ever coined the term battleship to describe the big, hub-style sequencers. I have a lousy sense of melody so I look for sequencers that abstract note input in different ways. The two dedicated sequencers I own are the Metropolis and Mimetic Digitalis (MD) and I find both be happy accid...

Re: how do *you* sequence your acid bass lines
I love the combo of an LFO, simple step sequencer and a sequential switch to cut between the two. It makes great looping patterns with a mix of predictable notes repeating and unpredictable bendy bits.

Re: What would you recommend here?
Modulation seems to be the biggest thing missing. Maths is a classic for great reason as is the Quadra. Octocroller and Pam's are also also capable but very much clock based and setup intensive. A question to ask yourself might be, do you want to setup patches with many layers of synced modulation o...

Re: Malekko SYNC
Figured I add a new chapter to the Elektron saga. I got a Model:Samples and figured I would check to see if there would be any better luck with the newest generation of Elektrons. Like others, the functions of the SYNC itself work perfectly. CV.GT will put out CV in Mono or Poly mode but the gates d...

Re: Dumb question regarding Elekton Model:Samples
I love my M:S but I do feel like not having a sync out to help it better connect with the world of Volcas and Teenage Engineering POs is a missed opportunity. I use the Malekko SYNC. 4hp gives you 16th note clock, a user definable clock division and a reset. I also have a CV.IO which would be a grea...

Re: Abstract Data - ADE-32 Octocontroller v1.1 Firmware upgrade
Yes, just as expected I ran a couple different LFO's at different rates, one with sync and the other out of sync. Reset trigger restarts the phase of each LFO cycle whether clocked internally or externally. Note that I did this on firmware 2.0. Sweet, that seals it for me. Thanks a bunch for checki...

I don't have a budget for anything more than desks made from 2x4s and plywood, but that's a beautiful design.

Re: Abstract Data - ADE-32 Octocontroller v1.1 Firmware upgrade
Do un-syncronized LFOs reset when a trigger is sent to the ext. reset in? From my understanding of the module, there is no such thing as free-running LFOs. Every LFO is synced to a certain int/ext clock div/mult, with or without offset, and is always affected by a reset trigger. I had come across t...

Re: Best quad VCA
I've just switched from an Intellijel Quad VCA to the new (2020) veils. Both are excellent. The only reason I switched was to save a couple of HP for a small case. Thinking about doing the same. Are there any differences except the sliders that I might have missed? The Intellijel has switchable +6d...

Re: Intellijel Quad VCA or Behringer 130 Dual VCA (x2)?
Intellijel's Quad VCA is my favorite eurorack VCA option. It defaults to clean but gives you the tools to push a signal into distortion. It's compact but not too crowded for my fat fingers. The normalization makes patching it as a multiplexer, crossfaded or planner a snap. The new Viels layout looks...
