i usually find feeding audio/audiorate signals into CV inputs tends to be interesting. While I knew about FMing filters for quite a while, it took me forever to think of FMing a VCA. Gives an interesting breathy effect when I've tried it in the past. Note to self: try FMing a VCA that is attenuatin...

Also just a note, and you probably already know this but there's a decent amount of logic you can pull from the mixmod on the envelators with different patching scenarios. Also some bizarre stuff in the low mode on the Waveform City. But yeah a dedicated logic module would be amazing. Care to expan...

(...) If I buy a lot of gear in a short period of time all of my my music making moments will go to unboxing, connecting, testing and so on. That's a great point! Personally, I cherish the memories of unpacking, rackmounting, testing, checking back with (and learning from) the manufactur...

That's cool that you like GAS! Was a fave of mine from the first EP to "Königsforst". But I think the first EP & first album were mostly reverted and slowed down disco/ glam rock guitar samples plus a few synth pads, and Schubert and Wagner only came in on "Zauberberg". At least that's what it sound...

Re: 5u and creative selling..?
@OP (didn't read the rest of the thread): I'm becoming an oldtimer, was new to modular in the late 90s. Back then there were no internet demos beyond a few lo-fi mp3s. We mainly relied on discussion with friends or lists like AH/ SDIY and on the occassional hands-on demo by an acquaintance of a frie...

It's envelopes like these that sometimes make me think about starting a 5U system after I used to have zero interest in the format when it was mostly plain, non-VC ADSRs. I'm a Wiard user and often patch up complex, arbitrary envelopes from the AD/AR/LFO plus the Sequantizer (which as a combo can pr...

That's the beginning! That's when you start to think redefining what music is, what musical means, and what's not should not be and all thumbs up Art. New music. Music which consists mainly from tone and free of tonal relatation and time structure. Yeah - but some people just prefer to exploit/ exp...

P.S. Another idea I tried myself and have gotten good feedback on from others: if you want to go the exploration route/ stick to the system, limit yourself to, say, 10 short patchcords for, say, four months. The pink MN ones have an ideal length for that. This enforces a different kind of creativity...

@OP, you say it probably has nothing to do with MN modules but then you wonder if Euro in general might not be for you. To me that sounds like a huge contradiction, which I can explain to myself only if assuming that you think of all Euro as MN-like - this strange wonderland of weird modules, both "...

That's why I recommended the Wiard, and would have recommended the XL second place - you can go in either direction with them, standard patches for "work" (which is also what I took your interest in the XL for) as well as what you describe (fun, meditation, novelty/ unexpected stuff). I'm not belitt...

The Evenfall Minimodular is 3U, 19" including ears, and runs on +/-15V and was designed by musician & long time Serge user Chris MacDonald with help from Grant Richter. Guess that's as close to your criteria as it gets. It has a waveshaper, which in theory should expand the sonic palette a lot compa...

I can only reply to what you wrote, not what you think. And you asked for info on Frac vs Euro, which (plus other things) suggested you have at least some gap somewhere between 1974 and now. "Historical" means a course of things, not something static. So, nevermind if you felt unfairly criticized. B...

I was going to PM you some locations to take that part off your hands, but then realized some mfg's have (and others may have) intentionally omitted detailed info from their websites to reserve it for personal comms. I'll respect that. Maybe not everyone likes a certain amount or type of exposure. I...

To call a few specific points a baselass debate is uncalled for. I applaud your bravado but you need to polish up your knowledge on some things. The point re: normalling is that you *can* apply your own normalizations between modules with phone type jacks. Granted, it's becoming a forgotten art as p...

Cool idea. What about adding past manufacturers (like Plan B) for a historical perspective? And of course, why only Eurorack? Three points against exclusivity: 1) some companies go across formats (e.g. Synthtech: 5U, Frac, Euro), 2) many designers' works have crossed formats over the years (e.g. Ser...

Problem solved, and I did find the more elegant solution that I felt in my guts. I'll bet a patchcord Grant knew it but didn't spell it out so people could find out for themselves. I may be wrong, but it would have right suited his sense of "teaching" back in the day. I'm actually just posting this ...

Thanks for posting this. I prefered the first recordings for at least the first half of the file. The envelope behaviour sounds "fuller" in that the very peaks are a little flatted out compared to the other. There might be an artificial "hold" after the attack. On the other hand, I seem to recall re...

Sorry, I guess I got confused. You said "not cheap" and vouched for its quality, but then were suprised at the price mentioned, while also overlooking it was stated with an "€"; and I don't get what you did want to say with the Sub 37 mention, even more if you do have an idea of what the parts of th...
