Re: Pros/cons THIS setup vs Buchla Music Easel

What makes the difference between a bunch of electronic circuits and a self-contained musical instrument such as the Music Easel is the user interface. No assembly of eurorack modules could ever approach the Easel's playability, immediacy and comfort of use. Functions and features on paper are one t...

Re: 208p build thread (papz's PCBs)

The metal can DG200A becomes rare and expensive and Chinese fakes is a risk. I designed a small adapter PCB to use the DIP 14 THT or SMT version, which is still available from common suppliers for a few €/$ only. https://www.mouser.be/Search/Refine?Keyword=dg200a https://be.farnell.com/fr-BE/search?...

Re: EMS Synthi AKS stand

This is well the original Synthi stand. No idea if it was designed specifically for the Synthi or EMS had it custom manufactured. I actually bought synthichap's one, for a much more reasonable price than $300, which is totally insane. It's a nice stand whose main advantage to me is it the mini...

Re: Old EMS/Synthi Forum archive

as far as I know the forum started to get abandoned since Sam died and pin didnt wanted to proceed without him. Also members like papz and others took the knowledge from this hidden forum to make money out of it. I suppose they did not understand why this has been a hidden forum. So what the proble...

Re: Old EMS/Synthi Forum archive

I remember mostly this guy called Shield harrassing all Synthi owners he could via any possible way. I got the same message from him many times via forums, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, my personal website... When somebody was kind enough to reply him, he was not happy with the asked price. He got banned. Re: EMS VCS-3 Re-Cap

I've never heard of a Mouser BOM and I order caps by hundreds, so I don't know the exact amount of each by heart, but your friend can read value and count them. Also, not all VCS3's have the same caps, there are various revisions. Some old values are hard to find nowadays and can be replaced with cl...

Re: Old EMS/Synthi Forum archive

Hopefully if the forum ever comes back people saying they miss it will be more active, the members participation was close to absolute zero during the last years before it was gone. I can understand Pin - although he was no longer active himself either except to promote his clones - didn't want to p...

Re: Buchla love/hate

A 208c and an original 208 from the 70s like the one in Charles Cohen's Easel are not the same instrument despite the ressemblance. Both the sound and behaviour are different because the circuits are different.
If that's what you're after, you should try a 208p or 208r clone.

Your reverb tank readings are wrong.
Input should be close to 25 ohms, output close to 850 ohms.

Re: 208p build thread (papz's PCBs)

Except for the SOT 2N4339 on card 8 all 2N43xx FETs can be replaced by a cheaper and easier to find J201 without other mod.
Check datasheets for the pinout.
