Re: Audiothingies MicroMonsta 2 Polysynth

Very cool sounding. It definitely seems far more unapologetically digital than the MM1. I wouldn't sell my MM1 for this at all considering the price of these things, I could easily justify both.

Me either. I've never put money towards something that was in pre production. But every choice he has made has really pleased me. I liked what I saw so much that I bought two. Funny enough I bought the first one drunkenly as well. The second one I was sober.

Re: Korg Opsix

yeah given the build of the Wavestate and OPsix I'm hoping for module versions as well. I really don't or want the keys. I suspect if they are successful enough they may bring one out the way they did with the minilogue XD. Or at least that is my hope.

Re: ISLA Instruments SP-2400

yeah I think there are 3 things that make this very attractive to me which are always my priority when assessing gear: 1. Work flow/ easy and intuitive 2. Sound and Groove 3. High quality components with modern accessibility I think we are getting close to shipping - very excited about this one and ...

Re: Which online backup service for large Media data ?

Wow that is a terrible upload speed on idrive which purports to have fast uploads. Backblaze was also recommended to me along with idrive. As of right now I'm still old school I have a second drive backing up everything and a 3rd drive in my unattached garage. That I should pull out and update again...

Yeah what carbonhazard said. If you want a P bass sound get a P bass if you want a jazz sound get a jazz bass if you want the SR sound get a SR. I have all 3 for that reason.

Re: ISLA Instruments SP-2400

Well they're in the hands of beta testers now so the last 24 hours the demos have been coming quickly. Which also suggests that getting up and running isn't going to be difficult. https://www.instagram.com/p/CFLo3CrgAcc/ And Brad has done an hour video going over features. At this point I'm fairly c...

Re: Ahhh... P Bass or J Bass.

As of right now I’m rocking a Stingray Sub but want something different I guess. I play punk, rock, a bit of metal & post hardcore but mostly punk stuff. I know many of you will say both are excellent but I guess I’m looking for a WHY for each. I’m leaning towards P but one of my favorite bassist B...

Re: Roland Boutique Price Jump

Yeah I agree with that having a D550 and D05, I've retired the D550. Need to replace the light and sell it. It had fiddly sysex dumps too.. very particular about it and it's really quite deep for a rack unit. The D-50 and 550 weren't some kind of joy to program either so the D-05 interface doesn't r...

Yeah I was just looking at those.. not very expensive either...

Seems like pairing this with an Orion 32 might be a great solution when my audio interfaces finally go kerplunk.

Re: Anyone still using a hardware sampler?

One of my very favorite albums, Programmed to Love by Bent, was made almost totally on the S6000 back in 2000. I'm friendly with 1/2 of the duo, Simon Mills, on Twitter and Insta. He's a super nice and approachable guy about his process and music. He swears by this sampler and he's got the Emulator ...

Re: Anyone still using a hardware sampler?

I've really been enjoying The Daydream Sound's Youtube channel. He has a ton of these samplers and has one on the mirage. These old things are a pita to work with there is no doubt, it's a labor of love for sure, but it's really all down to the sound ultimately. It's the main reason I'm really excit...

What's the quality of the sound like? Useable EQ? Etc?

Re: Anyone still using a hardware sampler?

Wow this thread was resurrected from the dead wasn't it? It's funny though in the 11 years that this thread was originally started I still don't think software sampling has caught up to where software synths are at. I've sold a few samplers namely an octatrack and MPC2000XL and will put a Korg ESX-1...

It might be a bit more than you want to spend but I bought the SixTweak controller and I'm glad I did. It's opened up the sixtrak nicely.

I saw the tr08 and was so put off by the dinky buttons and I actually have small hands so that is no issue. I ended up buying the TR8S and don't regret it at all - the new fm update is pretty great too.

Re: Roland Boutique Price Jump

I noticed this. The JU06 has come down (which I think was the first boutique to become more money than it was new) because of the JU06a. I have the D-05 which is my favorite, the SH01a and JU06a. I can't believe the prices of the D-05 it's more than my D-550.

Re: ISLA Instruments SP-2400

Yeah if I had an SP1200 in really good condition I don't know that this purchase would be for me at all. You have it sans the extra sampling. The only way it would be worth it is if it 1. Nails it 2.You need a back up or want something more portable.

Re: What new booty did you buy?

I've never seen pickups like that. Are they bridging over the strings? How do they differ from regular pickups? It's just a cover, pickup is in the normal position. Voltcontrol is right, if you look at old pictures of P and Jazz basses many of them have the ashtray cover set over the pickups and th...

Well that sucks :( Nice colour tho? Hopefully it'll come right in the end I'm thinking of making a 'partscaster' but I'm a bit nervous .. It's worth trying once. Re: What new booty did you buy?

Okay this project was so unfun I will never build a bass again. Seriously the body had to go back 3x because of issues and I had to sand the cavity to be large enough for the pickups because it was cut pretty tight. And I chipped the nitro paint trying to remove a screw I stripped. It was a bargain ...

Re: What new booty did you buy?

Funny I have an MJT P alder body showing up today. I have an extended warmoth rosewood neck with hipshots ready to go and lollar pickups. I have the electronics wired. I will just need to do the drilling which is a bit dicey through the nitro finish and I have to put some copper shielding inside the...
