Re: Mounting a spring reverb tank properly? (No sympathetic vibrations)

2 things come to mind. First mount the tank to a chunk of wood, 2x6 about 2" longer than the tank. Set that on foam blocks, just at each end. Second look up the code number for your tank, the last set of letters usually has an orientation code. Some tanks work better and with more isolation on there...

Re: Modcan A / B power supplies

Power One HDD 15-5 is my choice for larger systems. At 5 amps it's overkill, but I have never had one fail.

Re: Trunk Lines...

My Moog IIP has 4 sets of trunks. I have them connected (from the back) to a normaled patch bay on my synth wall. But you never move it, it stays put..? Thing is YOU are one of the handful of people worldwide, that has the stones to tote your vintage Moog around! I would think the majority of larger...

Re: Trunk Lines...

Yes, your understanding is correct. Specific to the Moog systems though various CP moudules (CP2, CP3) had trunk lines on the panel, sometimes with mults, that then connected to the back of the cab with jacks or in one big 55 I saw Jones multi way plug. But the purpose was to tie to other cabs or pa...

Re: Trunk Lines...

Yeah, but it allows you to hardwire to a studio patchbay or another synth. Dr. Moog had envisioned this as a studio tool not unlike any other outboard gear, hence my reference to the operating level. A 904a/b/c combo is a killer effects tool, insert it into the feedback loop of a delay line (tape ma...

Re: Trunk Lines...

Well now the thing is Moog is running at +4 dBm so the trunk or tie lines are great for interfacing to external processors, say like a Marshall Time Modulator or Micmix Dynaflanger. I have played with fast expanders after the FFB. Guess it depends on your studio layout, but for me it became a modula...

Cool seeing a flat photo of the CEMS. The 901s and 902s in my small system are from Joel's monster. They are the earliest of my RA modules.

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

Having MIDI on the I2C buss should be easy in that it was already implemented on the 218e. Due to the architecture of the Easel presets are a different story. 200e modules are fly by wire, the pots feed encoders that drive the circuits. Easel pots directly couple to the circuit. The preset would hav...

Re: Buchla Easel Command Module 208C

Sooo, unwelcome news on the Buchla 208C front. As the global supply chain grinds to a halt do to the Corona virus and quarantine in China, several suppliers have said 4 to 6 weeks before shipments resume. This seems to be a common time frame with many disparate companies (a couple of others have sai...

Re: All easel functions as 200e

I think the 251 is overkill, Eardrill MM Morphun and uStep covers the 208 pulser/sequencer functions pretty well. Studio H DPO (258) gets close to the Easel tonalities. Buchla H modules for 292 and EG, mixer/preset, some utilities and case and you will be well under 10K....... I’d argue the 261e is...

Re: Quad Transevent Generator Model 282e

OK, this is the 5th firmware update I have done on various Keen modules. It worked flawlessly and EASY (again), it did not even wipe my presets or envelope settings. It did not hang on reinstallation to my synth. SOMETHING is very fishy here....updates that do not break the module seem wrong. Now in...

Re: KEEN ASSOCIATION

Wowza, my B&A 12 doesn't look like that, my top boat just above the buss board has an unsightly oval hole. Where do I get one of those rectangular green corks to plug it up?
Looking forward to this Alex, using the USB program card to access the internal midi buss is not without its flaws.

And Thank You for taking the time and effort to do this. Only recently got a 251 and was trying to suss this out, I owe you a beer.

Re: Horrible docs, but good instruments (Tetra MAPS sequencer)

Heh,heh an amen brother! I have owned 4 of them in every format. Occasional sheer delight, followed by frustration. Sell in disgust, miss it 6 months to a year later, buy another one, rinse, repeat. But with an old Lemur and OSC it is still SO far ahead of the curve. I have decided that this piece o...

Re all of the above,
Like the touch screen as implemented, would like an editor.
Like the form factor and sound palette.
Hope this will pair well with the Eigen matrix as implemented in the Osmose.
The combo seems to be my dream (digital) synth.
Pre-ordered both, so time will tell.

The best experience is doing. If you take your time, the result will be great. Prep the wood well, sand to 150 grit and consider buying a cabinet scraper, it is a rectangular piece of sheet metal that will make the wood shine, even before oil.

EMS finish

I would assume the finish is the same as used on the Afromosa cabinets for the Pitch Converter and Filter bank. Cleaned mine with laq thinner to remove wax and re coated with Watco Tongue oil. The filterbank had considerable sun bleaching on the top, used Watco Danish Oil that has a dark tint(walnut...
