Re: Odyssey vs Minilogue

I've been eyeballing a Korg Odyssey for some time now. Just recently, a friend suggested a Minilogue instead. I started comparing them and it seems like the feature set is fairly similar between both synths. For example, both have two oscillators, two envelopes, one LFO, cross mod and FM capabiliti...

The Fall People Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm not sure I'm in a position to consider upgrading from my NL2X. But looking at the NL4, it seems to have a slightly deeper engine, broader sonic palette and it's even more performance-friendly. It'd certainly be overkill to keep the NL2X alongsid...

i wish it would pickup AM radio. AM has a lot better things to work with here in the States. screaming preachers atmospheric noiz and such... FM just has a bunch of mainstream radio shite. :( Better still if it could pick up shortwave radio. There are some great sounds in SW, great atmospheric, cos...

Totally agree with everything. LOL @ the people who still can't get over the appearance, or are still trying to figure out if they're analog or not. These people are missing out.

This is too expensive for what it does. So many great alternatives out there. Edit: I need to check the features first before coming to this conclusion. Thought it was just a straight clone. Srry. It actually does an insane amount of things. Not only little helpful abilities for performing and sequ...

So, I've been filming some TT-606 & 78 video demos for Perfect Circuit (the longer format white-background ones I've been doing for several years, not the new short ones the staff are doing now). I'm very impressed. I wasn't the first time I touched them, I just thought "cool, the 606 and CR-78 have...

I got a used Eventide Space pedal the other day and I think I spent a few minutes just inducing clicks and pops and 60 hz hum into it with a 1/4" cable and my hands. Did the exact same when I got my Space, haha. As far as the OP, I use a lot of contact mics or just touching cables going into whatev...

Cool, thanks for the responses everyone! I'm not going to bomb. The cat has been medicated and now wears a collar. No improvement for the last 3 weeks. I saw an exterminator outside yesterday and stopped to talk to him. There was an infestation next door. He plugged some holes in the exterior of our...

Insecticide Fogging = Bad for gear?

My studio cat has fleas.

I'd really like to fog, but I have a ridiculous amount of gear in the studio. I'm assuming it's bad, at least on some level.

Anyone know for sure? Any other advice?

Thanks.

ES Silent Way activation issues after HDD clone/switch

Hey all, I recently upgraded all of my hard drives to bigger sizes. I cloned my system drive. Now that I'm trying to run Logic, I'm getting a dialog box saying that I have not activated SW on this machine. When I try to, it says that it's already registered on another computer. I downloaded the Lice...

No offense, but the people in this thread saying the Minilogue is basic or not mind blowing are not putting much effort into their sound design (iMO). The Minilogue is super unique. All the modes + the Cross-Mod AND Ring-Mod (not to mention the dirty-ass delay and param seq'ing) makes it a mind-blow...

Damn I did not know that. Really annoying because I paid a pretty penny for them. Can't say I use them often. But still. My understanding is that the existing versions that end users already have will be still supported. Just no longer available to newbs (like me) to the UAD world. :omg: Oh Thank G...

FWIW, their site says this about the reductions: "To put any doubts to rest it is important to stress that the price reduction is not because of any successors being on the horizon. Also, let us remember that the Machinedrum and Monomachine won’t be around forever." So, there's likely no MK3s coming.

If a MK3 comes and I eat 500 bucks on the resale, I wont' be happy. ... This probably is the end of these models, but I hope not... but at the same time, I hope so, because I won't have to sell them to get the new ones and lose money. I doubt they'll release Mk3 versions. I think they've shifted th...

Honestly, I know I'm an asshole, but this annoys me considering I own immaculate Monomachine and Machinedrum units for which I paid full price. When did you buy them? I bought my MDUW Mk1 second hand in 2009 for about $950 plus international shipping and importing duties, which in total amounted to...

Oh and I have a Braids... and a bunch of other wavetable stuff. Braids is dope, but doesn't compare to Shruthi/Ambika (in my opinion) because it's a different vibe. I love modular and I love fixed synths. Braids is definitely more advanced, but it''s not a Shruthi and definitely not a polyphonic Amb...
