Re: Best Fixed Filter Bank?
I have a plain FFB from COTK and feel I am underusing it, so always on the lookout for examples of what you can get out of it. I'd have to use an external VCA/mixer but no issue... For the DotCom version, I had to double the normal gain of the VCA to get it into the howling range. This experiment m...

Re: PSA: Junkie XL massive 5U sale
He has two CdS modules for $50 less than the last few I sold. I built these for him as a matched pair - vactrols were selected for similar behavior/response. I will not produce these again, so for those who may want one, this is a good deal. https://reverb.com/shop/the-official-junkie-xl-reverb-shop...

Re: Is Megaohm still in business?
I still exist! Trying to clear out all long overdue custom jobs. Don't have any modules for sale - out of panels and pcbs on some. The only production module I can make is the MA20 because I have the pcbs. Panels I would have custom made to order (re:synth or tardishead or front panel expres...

I like that look. Surprisingly effective with the water clear LEDs and sooooo much easier on the eyes!Flounderguts wrote: ↑Sun Oct 25, 2020 12:53 pmvery bright LEDs with higher-value resistors, so that they are dim. Looks more authentic than a properly-spec'd dim LED.

Re: Cleaning up PCBs
GrantB's post says it all. The iso loosens the flux but you still need to get it off of the pcb with a paper towel, etc. Occasionally I do small boards with only 60/40 rosin flux solder. To clean those I: Find a shallow plastic lid (chinese takeout container) Place pcb in the middle and fill with is...

Re: EDV-Technik-TS MUC-410 MIDI-->CV Converter
I'm ordering pcbs I designed for this MIDI MUC device to build in MU format. Buy a kit from ebay or elsewhere and you can use the pcbs (two of them) to build in MU. Panel pcb so wiring is fairly minimal. Am hoping to sell five or six pcb sets from my small run of ten. This is for a custom order so I...

Re: Best Fixed Filter Bank?
Yeah, you can tap the output either from the FFB output or from the mixer output. I don't think it matters too much which one you choose. I didn't even use a multiple, just a Y-splitter like this one: I was just wondering if it is possible to modify the dotcom ffb to integrate the feedback path int...

Re: Source or alternate for LM7810ACT Voltage Regulator?
For that project (most others, too) you do not need any special part number. Play fast and loose with the letters. It is a 10V regulator. It's footprint is TO-220 (listed as TO-220-3). Just search "7810" and look under semiconductors. Plenty to chose from: https://www.mouser.com/Semiconductors/Power...

Also, a couple things on RTD resistors.

Bourns and BI Tech/TTE currently make center tapped pots. Both are legit companies with good reputations. Contact BI Tech if you need to special order. Their min quantities are usually low (maybe a couple hundred), inexpensive, and better quality than most (conductive plastic, 100,000 rotations rati...

They are pot based and are great for synth use. I don't recall the connector name they mate with but that should be easy to google. They also have a second push button on the back. As stated already, the stick is spring loaded or free moving selected via bottom switches, one per axis. Good price for...

Kudos for an outstanding panelling! It must have been a lot of fun to wire. Well done. Thanks! The wiring is time consuming but not bad, really. Everything is connected to the pcb via MTA100 connects so I didn't have to do much soldering in the congestion. Here's another pic of the back. https://ww...

looks lovely phil.. :) does the VCA add colour..? and how does the bias effect it all..? If I'm reading the panel correctly, the bias knob acts as a crossfader between the envelope signal and a constant (probably +5V) voltage, so that when the knob is fully counterclockwise the VCA is only affected...

JH Trapezoid in a single MU
Built this recently for a custom job. Wasn't sure how or if it would work in a single MU space. I was apprehensive the controls would be too cramped. It actually worked well and all controls are easy to use. Will be building one for myself now. Was thinking there may be a person or two on MW who wou...
