Re: Behringer: practices, ethics, morals and legitimacy.

Yeah - hopefully it is price fixing, given it's two of the sellers (amongst a small number) which have given me the cheapest deals available on almost everything I've bought in the last 20 years or so.

One big low-price conspiracy - no-one wins.

Re: KORG miniKORG 700FS

I wonder if there will be a lot of people who will buy this based on the fact certain artists used it only to find it doesn't sound like it does on the record. According to OMD/Andy McCluskey these cheaper synths needed a lot of effects added to make them sound better (delays, reverb, harmoniser Et...

I haven't tried the traveller notch removal trick yet so it's nice to see that option on this rather expensive re-issue.
I still giggle when I see photos of hacked off traveller notches.

Turn the slider caps upside down FFS - same result but totally reversible!!!

Re: KORG miniKORG 700FS

If I didn’t already have both 700 and 700S this would be tough to turn down, although that’s quite a price tag!

Not a beginner synth to my mind though, easy to use, but not entirely logical!

Re: Korg ARP 2600 availability

Santa at Sweetwater called last week, and serial no. 000909, mfg date 7/2029 arrived today, well packed. I had given up any hope this spring! What a pleasant surprise. I have no idea where I was on any list, but probably put my name down on day one or two of the announcement. 2029 - they certainly ...

Some folks are really going to do some great stuff and/or have fun with the palette of sounds this unlocks at a reasonable price, others will just moan. And moan.

RIP Chris.

My OSCar will stay with me for life, as will the memory of turning down a second one in a Moog Source case in a store in Northwich.

I was an idiot that day and I won't be missed, you were the opposite through your life and that will continue - thank you for that.

Re: Behringer 2600

For me the Odyssey seems like an advance over this as far as UI goes. There's a point where knob per function ..or slider in this case..becomes as awkward and cumbersome as multifunction knobs. Add patch cables and this thing becomes as confusing as digging through a jumble of eurorack cables to se...

Not gonna preorder this one, but oddly if I do get one I want it to say “Prophet 5” even if it’s got 10 voices.

Re: Dave Smith hints at Sequential Prophet 5 Rev4/Prophet 10

Luckily, this isn’t a limited release or anything, so you will have plenty of time to mull it over. This is the crux of it for me - no need to rush (I hope). I'm sitting in the living room looking at a KArp 2600, MS10, Korg 700 and Korg 700S 'cos there's no room for them in the studio. I don't need...

The end response was that a replacement was not an option as none were available. Makes me very confident if my ARP2600 needs some replacement parts one day :despair: :hmm:  I'm sure they meant a new complete unit is not available to replace a damaged one, not that our ARP2600s are not re...

Wouldn't disagree with JJ, but Paul Simonon is up there (but less of a thumper?).

Stretching the definition of "punk" a little I'd say Derek Forbes, but JJ works for me.

Re: How do you describe modular to laypeople?

Most non-musical people I know have no comprehension of what a synthesiser is, never mind a modular. Other musicians tend to focus on the sounds they hear rather than the source or interface. No-one really seems to care about the wall of modular in my experience, so I just tend to say that "this was...

Cats are annoyingly selfish animals. Pretty sure that’s exactly why most of us love and adore them :hihi: Cat's are OK, but dogs are, well..... dogs. We all know at heart that they are the superior format. Nothing against cats though, but they are not dogs. Room on here for tolerance of all formats...

Piano (as previously stated).

It becomes a pillow automatically when required, plus it doesn't drone when used as such.

Looks simple on youtube, but I've only built a few kits. Damn, I'm even scared to repair my CR-8000 buttons!

Re: Korg Arp 2600 Arrival Date

I was watching some Behringer System 100 videos just now and while I liked the sound, I've suddenly realised that the Korg Arp 2600 workflow has killed my GAS for the system 100 stone dead. I think I'm ok with it, but feel a bit disappointed. I have 7 G6s full of Doepfer which is fine, but seeing al...
