Here are a few Evolver sounds.
I'll have more when things a little more organized.
This is really cool synth, a little challenging, but its a monster.

I love the delay and feedback on this monster, it makes me able to "play" with the sound in a way that feels like guitar feedback.
Here is a 7 minute jam with the left side into the TX-1 and the right side into the TBD.
I am playing with the BPM,delay,output hack,and grunge section.

i don't know what my problem is with the evolver, i really don't. nothing against your demos at all, but it's so wierd - nothing i've ever heard from an evolver has sparked even the smallest amount of interest in me... and i really don't know why

chris/theallisonproject is a guy who really got me interested in modulars when i was starting out and i totally trust his opinion on most things synth...and he swears by his evolvers. but i just can't get hot on them at all... my loss i'm sure

i don't know but i just can't give two shits or even one about anything none modular in the synth world. even in some of the regular equipment arena. i'm dying to get enough modules to just patch up whatever musical or audio engineering thing i'm looking for.

if i had endless funds and a huge warehouse studio i'd probably add a ton of acoustic instruments to my setup and some electric guitars but i don't....right now.....muhahahahaha. but yeah i like focusing in life and right now modulars are my focus. that and skratching cuz i've been rocking the turntables since 1997 so you know i'm not gonna get over that shit.

as big as i'd like my modular to be even in my mind that has some limits. my musical journey is still very much open to discovery but when i find something i really like i latch on to it pretty heavy. skratching for instance. just being able to manipulate any sound from a record is so awesome. it's like taking sampling and humanizing it to the point where it's truly it's own instrument and no digi conversion needed. that's why i love modulars, it's the perfect complement to what i've already been doing. and it's very similar in the fact that like records, you can manipulate so many different sounds with the same instrument.

but i do love acoustic stuff a lot too. but like i said, lack of funds/space.

assignable envelope in addition to the dedicated VCA and filter envelope.

Thats what I like about it.
I use it like I use a modular.

Its unique. Eventually I'll make some sounds that sound unique.
Im no expert with this thing,but I'm aware of its potential which is something
I feel most people are unaware of.
This is really the only synth I "care" about hmm....

sorry to sorta hijack your thread. just babbling. but i feel everyone's tastes it's just personal. i can see why getting into non modulars could be appealing. afterall that's how i first got into the analog synth world.

I'll add mine for a while then.. recorded some random Evolver seqs I made before I borrowed my desktop Evo to a friend: http://vae.stc.cx/evolver_potpourri.mp3 (beware, they aren't that well level matched, one of them is somewhat louder than the others). They're kinda more "bread and butter" but there is a Karplus-Strong patch and other fun stuff in there too...

I've been planning to sell mine (the desktop version) about a million times. I don't really know how much I need it in my current setup, the sound is either brilliant or boring depending on day and mood, and the compact interface is still kind of clumsy even though you learn to navigate it really fast...

And then I realize that it's conveniently small, has a metric fucktonne of features, doubles up as a nice little instrument preamp + distortion + delay + envelope filter + mayhem device, and would only be worth of about two nice eurorack modules or a single nice big sample library when sold. And keep it.

the desktop version looks very similar to the MFB synth II i used to have. although the evolver looks more... evolved 8)

i dunno though. much as i dug the mfb i had to flip it for more modular stuff.

that was my biggest key to the modular world last year. flippin gear. worthy trade up!!

Hey zerosum,

Are you using the editor software or just programming straight from the hardware?

I don't use my evolver that much, but I've been wondering if I would more if I used the editor.
