Question for ya'll:

If I'm working with VSTs at 44.1 in Ableton and I Freeze the track, then change the rate of the session to 88.2 and then Flatten the track, will the newly converted audio file get be at 44.1 or 88.2?

I'm trying to ride the line between CPU power while working with VSTs in 44.1 while also getting the added benefit of 88.2.

Thanks!

I just tried it and the resulting audio is at 44.1kHz.

Intuitively it makes sense to me that it would render at the sample rate it was frozen at, but I don't know what sort of intermediate representation Live keeps frozen track data at.

Anyway you can check it for yourself by setting the sample rate to 44.1kHz, dropping a softsynth on a track, recording a note, freezing, changing sample rate to 88.2kHz, flattening, and then right-click and "Show in Finder", then "Get Info" on the file.
